I have been taking every other night half a pill. I sleep so much better those nights. My OB nurse said she took full every day and there is literally no harm to baby. Still makes me a little nervous to take something every day.
I take it everyday. Have since 28 weeks because of my terrible morning sickness. It doesn't really help me sleep anymore though. Benadryl doesn't help me either. My doctor told me its safe to take everyday. I don't like it, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. I trust that my doctor wouldn't put me or the baby in harm. People have done worse things and came out with perfectly healthy babies. Don't stress about it.
I try not to take sleep aids more that about twice per week. Sometimes I'll take Ambien (prescribed by my doctor) and sometimes I'll take Tylenol PM depending on how poorly I've been sleeping. A few weeks ago I was taking something closer to every night, but I made myself cut way back and I've actually been sleeping much better.
As long as your OB doesn't have a problem with it, then you should be fine to continue doing what you're doing.
Last week I took a half dose a few evenings. My bh contractions and sore hips were becoming too much and I just couldn't sleep. It worked! I try not to do it too much because I am still sleepy the next day a little. So I use it sparingly. But it is suppose to be safe. We need to get some rest while we can!

Omg, yes! I have the worst insomnia and cannot sleep without it. My doctors say it is totally safe. I took it throughout my first pregnancy too and now I have an amazing 3 yr old.
I take it any night that I can get to bed at a decent hour. I find that if I take it too late, I'm super groggy in the morning. But it helps me sleep through the night so much better! And my ob said it was fine to take every night if I wanted/needed to.
Unisom makes me feel like a got hit by a truck the whole next day after I take it. Even with half a pill! But the sleep is great. I would have taken it more often if not for the insane grogginess it gives me.
I know what you mean about not liking taking stuff even knowing it's safe and approved by your doctor. I'm on hospital bed rest and they are giving me oxycodone and ambien at the same time when I go to bed. It seems crazy, but it's the only thing that gets me any sleep. A rested, non physically stressed mama is important for baby's health, too.
Get a good night's sleep and don't worry, mama. Your baby is snug and happy.
I take it rarely, but if I'm in pain or super-restless at night I'll take a half. And even that makes me feel like a space case so I save the Unisom for the weekends when I can sleep in.
I take the generic form, 1 pill each night and I sleep pretty well. I only get up once or twice a night to pee and usually fall back asleep pretty quick.
I took it every night for my entire pregnancy for unrelenting nausea. Baby boy arrived on the 17th and he is perfect and healthy. As long as you are taking the doxylamine succinate formula you are taking a category A/B drug (depending on the source). It's very safe.
Yep. Half a tab every night since about 20 weeks. Every once in a while I skip it just to see... I don't sleep well and I end up a little naseaus in the morning, so back to the half tab I go.
Re: Anyone else taking unisom to help with insomnia?

I still usually take one at night and it helps me sleep better.
I'm 36w4d now and haven't had any problems.
