Any suggestions/tips on switching up tot's schedule while relatives are in town?

My husband's aunt and uncle are coming from half way across the world this spring to stay with us for about a week.  It is going to be a whirlwind of touristy activities, restaurants, and late nights.  I'm freaking out because DD is very much on a schedule with naps and meals and I feel that if we change things up, even for a week, she is going to melt down and not be able to handle all the changes (and if she melts down I will melt down too!).  Does anyone have any survival tips/suggestions for how to make her a happy kid during this week of disruption to her schedule?

  • Just try to stick to her schedule. Naps! DD is always on nap strike with family here (or when we go there for a visit). Get a sitter, if you can. Especially when you know it will be a late night. Have fun!!

  • I would try to do as little of messing with the schedule as possible. You can push limits, but I wouldn't do it for a whole week. You are bound to send things into a tail spin! I would make early reservations for dinner that works for your kid. I would work tourist activities around naps. I would send Aunt and Uncle to do some things on their own if it doesn't work out to join them. I would plan to get a babysitter at least one night (if not two) so you guys can all go out and have a good time, late night without having to worry about your LO.
