UGH at a paramedic trying to talk shit about nurses. Let's have a medical profession brawl out!!
Nurses vs. doctors!
Medicine vs. Surgeons!
Prescribing physician vs. pharmacist!
Chiropractors vs. orthopedic surgeons!
Therapists vs social workers (not medical, but why not...)
Psychiatrists vs. everybody!!!
There are competent and incompetent people in every profession. Some specialties have worse reputations than others, some hospitals or offices (or floors within a hospital) have worse environments than others, but talking shit about any of them as a general statement is stupid. Just stahp!!
Edit: changed my words so it didn't seem like I think that nurses are automatically superior to paramedics and that's why it bugged me. Chest thumping and generalizations bug me.
Not even a paramedic, but an EMT. Her "advice" is outside of the realm of her training.

One of my closest friends is a paramedic. He always bitches about the stupid shit people call in for. I could only imagine what he would say about a women calling for an ambulance because she got her fucking period.
People will call 911 because they think if they come in by ambulance they'll get right to the back instead of waiting. Imagine their surprise when the EMTs wheel them out to the waiting room because the back is totally full. I had a lady come in for vaginal bleeding. She wasn't my patient so I don't know what happened with that situation. She was dramatic, I remember that much.
A while back I had to go to the ER because I was shitting blood. Before they would take me back, they asked me if it was my period. I wondered, who the hell would go to the ER for their period?! Now I know.
Thanks for making things complicated for people who have real emergencies, and being totally insensitive to people who have suffered a loss.
If you catch it on your panties soon enough and are at home you can just soak them in warm water for a second and use hand soap, scrub it together and rinse then voila! You may need to rinse and repeat but it's pretty exciting. I have had really heavy periods since I started minus the five years I was on BP (man alive I miss unmessy, predictable periods that last 4 days) so I've had plenty a panty ruined/saved
I wanted to say something about OP going to the ER for her period but everything I was gonna say has already been said. Shouldve hopped in earlier!!!
ETA: @CLECyclist I would probably find so much entertainment out of watching it bubble on the blood. Is that weird? Lol
Guize, you know that Hydrogen Peroxide gets blood out of panties, right? Pour that shit on. Let it bubble up. Scrub with a little cold water and soap, and BOOM! Like new.
Clorox 2 bubbles up on blood! I was actually afraid of using Peroxide though, because the panties were orange. I didn't want a light spot.
Huh, I've never had it affect the dye / color of my undies.
Haha now I'm thinking back to that thread a while back discussing the bleaching properties of feminine secretions - wasn't there a poll about it too? I find it funny that our bodies bleach out our undies more noticeably than cleaning products. Woman power!
Married August 2012. Me: 41 DH: 42

Ectopic discovered at 8 weeks, right tube removed 01/18/13
June 2013 Testing Results: Progesterone: 31.7, LH: 5, FSH: 5, Estradiol: 161 Clomid cycles Nov. 2013 and Jan, Feb, and March 2014
OP, I've had this happen. If you are getting BFN's you are currently not pregnant. If you are not bleeding through a pad an hour...you do not need to go to the ER. If you are not in crippling pain, have a high fever, chills...etc... you do not need to go to the ER. Your PP cycles will be strange for awhile. If none of these things happen, relax and wait for your cycles to regulate.
To FFgirl or whatever the hell your name is. I am married to a firefighter EMT (he does hazmat too...he wears a lot of hats..anyways..I digress) and I am an RN. Please stop making EMT's look stupid and uneducated. Every medical area has a "scope of practice" you are out of yours. Just stop.
