Cloth Diapering

Diono radian @nana

From your rave reviews and the RF abilities I got this carseat. The only issue is I don't think it's working RF in my car. :(

I thought it was supposed to be good for this? No?

We already have the angle adjuster and I still don't think I could fit in the passenger seat and my h in the drivers seat. It works for me in the drivers seat with the passenger seat moved forward.

I'm really bummed and don't know what to do.

Volvo S60.. The backseat are tiny! :(

Thanks I'm going to check that out. And it may fit in my H's or moms. So it's not a "waste". And the reason I only bought 1 for the time being.

  • Are you using the angle adjuster? It's really thin profile with the angle adjuster. The only one with a thinner profile is the Nextfit. We have 2 RFing in a Dodge dart and we didn't have to move the seats at all. We do use the angle adjuster though. Before I was eating dash with the infant seat in his car.

  • Also, the radian allows touching of the seat, just not bracing.

  • I noticed that she had all the carseat in the passenger seat.. Instead I the middle. Maybe that would help?
    image
  • Doesn't that look tight?
    image
  • Yeah I do passenger install in the dart. Try that.

  • You have the same problem I have with our radian. The problem is how your seats are where the bottom of the seat meets the back of the seat... You have that diagonal piece there. Our pilot is the same way. On normal seats, the back of the seat and the bottom just meet and there is no extra diagonal seat part. I know I'm explaining this horribly. So because the little toe thing on the radian that you use for rear facing doesn't have a crack where the seat parts meet to fit into, it can't sit up as straight as it can in other cars. God I hope that makes sense.

The radian fits great in our Sentra (tiny car) and barely fits in our pilot (big suv) because of the seats.

  • If my kid wasn't puking every ten minutes this morning I would go take a picture so you could see. I love the Radian but we will choose a different seat for the next kiddo. We never had this issue with our My Ride.

  • Thanks lady :) I go crazy when I try to explain the issue to people because it's so hard to describe.

  • Can I adjust the angle to make it more upright?

So lesson learned. Diono radian thrived best with reclined seats!

Don't mind this poor install, I was doing it with child in the seat. I will make it better during nap time.

    How does this look??

  • Yes! Lol.

I think I can fit into the passenger seat... Not super comfy but Better than before. And now I wouldn't have any issues when I'm driving!

The bummer is I think the Prius has flat seats. So this may be an issue there too. And I'm don't know about my moms seats. But she has an SUV so it should have plenty of room.

  • You also have to factor in some cars have a hump or slight hump in the center seat. This can screw with the angles a ton.

  • @Nana_Osaki06‌ I'm surprised you didn't comment on us having both a Volvo and Prius! Lol

  • @Nana_Osaki06‌ , jumping on the radian train! :). Ours is installed, sturdy and we love it. My question is: to tighten the harness, you pull just the adjuster strap and that pulls in the chest straps. Then pull up on the hip belt to make sure it's positioned. I do that. But my issue is that with that metal piece you lift to loosen the straps, when you are pulling to tighten it lifts up and clamps the strap...but it seems to be stopping the belt from tightening to where I think it should. (God I hope that makes sense). How do I fix it? I feel like the metal piece is not allowing me to tighten it like I should. But if I pull it a lot further, I think it'd break M in half. Lol

  • Wait, so what did you do differently to make it fit better?

Moved it to behind a passenger seat, where the seat slants more.

  • You have to crank the strap to tighten, not just pull. You get used to tightening after a bit. It takes some getting used to though.

  • You'd fit so well around here @YellowLily2013‌. All you need to do is trade your current Volvo in for an XC90.

Instead of just lifting the metal thing that latches the strap and pulling like other seats, you have to lift it and then do a cranking motion (up and down) mutliple times to tighten. Sort of like little tugs. It's hard to explain, but it has to do with what motion you use to tighten.

I actually really love that car! (The seats adjust in it instead of needing a booster.. that seems neat.) Since you're a carseat expert.. that's probably  not a good thing?

It's crash tested, it's safe. I like the XC90's as well. I just don't want one. I save myself for the other mom stereotypes. You know, the mini van or sexy crossover type. :P
