Please recommend your umbrella stroller. I am in the market for one and having a hard time making a decision, so I am wondering what others like about their stroller! TIA
I think it is insane to buy a very expensive umbrella stroller unless you just have the money. It's not like you are getting fancy tires and cleverly engineered suspensions for going over tree roots, so what are you paying for... Storage and a sunshade. If you don't want either, get a $10 one anywhere. If you want both, I have heard good things about the First Years Jet and Ignite. Some eople want the seat to recline and be very padded. For this, people like the g-luxe, but it is pricey. More than I would spend and more than you say you want to... Amazon reviews are helpful.
So I have the Chicco ultra Lightway- and I am debating on returning it because the sunshade is so small and the storage sucks.
For $150 you will just meet the cost of the UPPAbaby G-Lite. Big sunshade and has some good storage. If I were to return this is the one I would buy.
If you're looking for a really light weight stroller that has a good sun canopy but want a little more than an umbrella stroller- something that will ride nice and be good outside on the grass, has a full recline, opens and closes with one hand etc I would look into buying a City Mini GT- since they just came out with the 2014 line you can get last years stroller for under $200. Albee Baby has them for $169 right now. It's 17 lbs so it's totally heavier than an umbrella stroller but it serves more purpose and is easy to use in stores/doesn't have the major bulk of a full/jogging stroller.
I like my Uppababy but it was expensive. The seat is comfy for the baby and has a nice size canopy for shade also some storage. It is lightweight too but not flimsy like some other umbrella strollers.
I have both the MacLaren Volo (I think it was $130) and a cheapie one from Babies R Us ($20). At the end of the day, both work fine-- the same, really. I prefer the MacLaren, only because is it SUPER light, easy, has a strap for me to carry it, and has a really great canopy to give her lots of shade. And, to be honest, it is pretty stylish. But if you're on a budget, a regular ol' umbrella one is MORE than fine. My LO likes both just the same.
