Can I vent? What do I do?

So DH and I put our old washer and dryer on a fb page for our towns online garage sale thing. We have a better washer and dryer from some friends. We put them up last week. My brother knew we were doing this. We had someone make an offer on our washer, but he backed out. This afternoon, I had a lady ask some questions about the dryer to pass on to her friend. When I told DH and my bro about this, my bro said he would just buy them from us to use when he moves out. DH told me to tell the lady that it was already spoken for, which I told him would be rude since she had asked about it earlier and I was just waiting for her friend to get back to me. Her friend texted me and said she wants it bad. I don't know what to do. I haven't got back to her yet, but I know my bro will make some snarky remark about how I would rather give them to a stranger than to my family. He's known about this all week and just spoke up about it today. And DH hasn't said anything about offering it to my bro til today either. I feel like I should stick with the lady who asked about it, but now I'm not sure. What's the best route to go here? Tia

  • You said your brother wants the W/D for when he moves out. When is he planning to move? Where would he store the appliances until he moves? Would he want you to hold onto them for him? If it's an unreasonable amount of time, then I would sell the W/D to someone else. If it's only a month or 2 then I would help my brother out. My family is really big into helping each other with furniture and appliances if it's not a big inconvenience.

  • Thanks ladies for the advice. He's been talking about moving out for months now, so I'm not sure when he is planning on actually doing it. We've got the washer for him, but the dryer, since the lady was inquiring about it yesterday before my bro said anything, I feel like it would be rude to give her the info on it, then turn around and say oops sorry it's actually taken now. And I figure that when he does move out, we can find him a dryer then.
