"A" names for Girl

I am having trouble finding an A name that is two syllables. Using a 1 syllable first name and would like to name after my grandmother that passed.

My cousins named after her so I can't use Alex, Alyssa or Ayla.

Everyone keeps suggesting Avery or Ava and I'm not feeling them. Any ideas?

I find it funny that you tell her not to use Avery because it's a boy's name, but then go on to suggest names that are traditionally boys names (Aubrey, Ashley).

  • You've probably already tried this site, but it's amazing for finding names based on letters, syllables, etc.  Typing in first letter A and using 2-3 syllables this is the list it produced.

    I personally like:
    Arden
    April
    Annabelle

  • Keep them coming!!

Its funny, I would never think of Avery, Ashley or Aubrey as boy names. Im sure its different in different parts of the country (or world for that matter).  Although I must add that I do like boys names for girls.

I really like the name Alli but I just cant get myself to do it being that my two best friends are named Alison and we call them Alli.

I do like more modern names over older names, although I like the sound of both Anna and Alice.

    What else? What else? :)
  • What about Anya? It's so pretty!

  • Adelaide and Aurelia are my personal favorite A names but they are more than two syllables.

I don't think Ayla has been mention yet. I prefer the spelling Isla but for MN honoring purposes I can get behind this spelling.
  • Sorry for repeats:
    Adrienne
    Alissa
    Amelie (LOVE!)
    Alexis
    Aurora
    Adelaide
    Adele
    Adeline
    Angeline

I know several of them are more than two syllables but there are some beautiful longer names out there that I couldn't resist.

Ayla and Isla are different names. Ayla is long A- A-lah- and Isla is long I- Eye-lah.

Do you have any suggestions to contribute to the conversation?

OP: Out of curiosity, is that 2 syllables or more or just 2 syllables? Suggestions:
    2 syllables:
    Aoife (pronounced Ee-fa)
    Alice
    Alta
    Anja
    Anwen
    Astrid
    Aster
    Alva

    More than 2 syllables:
    Aurora
    Aurelia
    Adriana
    Amina
    Ariadne
    Andromeda
    Althea
    Anthea
    Adora

Sorry, just seeing this now.  And other suggestions, trying not to repeat and keeping it to two syllable A names,

    Aspen

    Aileen

    Andra

    Agnes
