Hello! I am new to this board and thought I would introduce myself. I recently turned 35, married, with a DD age 2, and two step daughters ages 14 & 16. We had trouble conceiving DD, I waited 3 years before trying Clomid. Then after 4 rounds, and right before IUI, we conceived DD.
I had a rough pregnancy, I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, and my blood sugar could not be controlled by diet or exercise. I was taking high doses of insulin and it was not slowing down my blood sugar. The doctor finally decided to take are 3 ½ weeks early and she ended up in NICU for 10 days. The NICU doctor said my OB took her at the right time. That was what my doctor was considering, he wanted her to say in as long as possible, but not at the expense it would harm her. I am glad we made all the right decisions at the time, but it was a rough road in NICU.
Now, she is perfectly normal and we are doing well. After my last postpartum checkup my doctor asked if I wanted birth control and I said I don’t think I need it. He said I figure you were going to say that and laughed. Sure enough, here we are over 2 years later and still no second baby.
We are now ready to get serious and do more proactive in trying to conceive. There were a few times over the past year I thought I might be pregnant but they were false hopes. I have an appointment scheduled with my OB at the end of April and I am a little nervous about going down this path again. One, when I was on Clomid last time I gained 25 pounds and two I had such a hard pregnancy that I am scared about the next one. I know each pregnancy is different, but it still makes me nervous. So that is my story, and I look forward to getting to know each one of you.

Welcome! I too share your fear about a rough pregnancy. My pregnancy with DD was really rough as well. I ended up having emergency surgery at 4 months. I also nearly had another surgery during month 6. I gained nearly 70 pounds (I'm normally 103), so pregnancy did some serious work on my body. So I understand the fears. Just remember, you don't go into this one blind. You've got all of the experiences that you gained from your first so that when you are pregnant with #2, you are able to be preventative rather than reactionary. That's my game plan anyway. Plus, like all of the other ladies said, each pregnancy is different! Good luck to you!
