Newbie intro & NB stash/cover questions

Hi everyone, I'm Kelly. I've been a longtime lurker, slowly building a stash since beginning TTC 2 years ago. I'm working on rounding out my NB stash right now.

Currently I have:
Fitteds:
11 Kissaluv size 0
2 Bumboo size 1

AIO:
2 Grovia NB (older style)

Pockets:
6 Kawaii P&Ns
2 Swaddlebees Mini-nappi

Prefolds:
30 GMD orange edge

Covers:
2 Rumparooz NB covers
2 Thirsties DuoWrap Sz 1

Other:
2 Snappis
1 Planetwise pail liner

I'm feeling a little maxed on diapers themselves, but I think we could use at least a few more covers and accessories. Anything that you would specifically recommend re: newborn covers? Covers I'm looking into include Bummis super brights vs. Bummis whisper wraps vs. Proraps newborns? What would work well with the diapers I currently have?

  • yeah you def have enough changes.  I would get like 3-4 more covers.  I really like Bummis super brights but I think the whisper wraps will do you well also.  I think you need an additional pail liner and what do you have for wetbags?  Also wipes?  CD safe creams?  I'd want maybe a couple more snappis.

  • I had some prorap classics and really disliked them. The closure tabs were weird, and I could not get a good fit.

I also did not care for the bummis super whisper wrap I had because it is a sandwich PUL(cloth like on both sides) and so not wipeable. I would go with the super brite over the whisper wrap for that reason. The super brite is also sized a little smaller so you have a better chance of getting a good fit right away.

The thirsties size 1s are a good investment because they will last longer than other nb size covers. Did you get aplix or snaps? As long as it is good aplix I prefer it over snaps for a better for for nb.

I would aim for 6-8 covers for nb if you think that will be your main system. If you think you will use the P&Ns and AIOs a lot you could get by with 4.

You need two wet bags for the diaper bag, and some CD safe cream like CJs.

  • Bummis nb super brites are great, but may not fit over the Kissaluvs fitteds. They will be perfect for the GMD prefolds, though. They're tiny covers, so don't plan on getting more than a couple of weeks out of them with an average birth weight newborn.

I actually loved the Proraps Classic covers, but I can definitely see how they could result in weird fit issues for some (since none of the larger sizes fit DD well at all).

I would probably just get one more of each of the cover brands you already have.

Definitely get another pail liner. You'll need it for when you're washing the other one.

  • The Thirsties size 1 covers will probably fit over the fitteds, but I have no experience with kissaluvs. My LO is just outgrowing the rumparooz newborn covrers-he is over 3,months.
