Trying to Get Pregnant

"Fallback" rise? Another noobie temping question

Ok, so here's where I'm at. First time temping. CD 14 dipped to 97.25 CD 15 spiked to 97.90 I thought ovulation was on like donkey kong but then this morning CD 16 dropped to 97.52 which was basically my temp before the dip. I read that sometimes a "fallback" can happen in temp during ovulation when your temp can drop (as the egg is released)and then rise again. Anyone experience this? Thanks ladies!

  • Sure thing, here it is

  • Don't focus on just one or two temps. You shoukd be looking at the whole picture. That being said, I've had a fallback rise and FF kept the crosshairs where they were. It's not significant as there can be many dips and spikes throught the 2ww.

  • Interesting, thanks. My concern is that from what I've read ovulation is only confirmed if your temp stays up for at least 3 days after the temp shift. I guess I'll have to see what happens tomorrow morning to get a better idea.

What is with this kindara app this morning?

Anyway yeah, one or two temps means nothing. Idk about kindara, but fertility friend has many many facts and tutorials explaining what your temps mean rather than just entering them and having you pick apart each one, as you're doing now.

ETA I should rephrase the temps don't mean "nothing" but you can't tell anything from just the two temps without the rest of the picture involved
  • I've tried to use the FF app on my iphone but for some reason it just won't work. I'm going to try to install the app again. kindara is alright but it does leave a lot to the users discretion, haha causing obsessive picking apart of temps

  • I don't know if it means anything but on clear blue easy OPK I've gotten a smiley face three different times over the past six days (with some empty circles in between) this is the pattern I've seen for the past four months and the reason I started temping. I just hope my lady parts are still working right:-(

  • I can tell you that 2DPO i almost always go down in temp before i shoot back up.
    Good luck!
  • Thanks swizzle3! I'm trying to stay positive!:-)

  • You'll just have to wait and see what happens from here. It sucks to wait and not know, but you have to see the overall pattern. FF doesn't give CH till you have three temps that suggest you O'd. I don't know about the app your using, but if your temps go back up and stay elevated I would think you did O on the day of your dip. I usually get a dip on 3dpo and then another rise, FWIW.

I'd be patient and see what your temps tell you, and keep HIO just incase.

  • Thanks for your feedback ladies! I know the next few days will tell the story!

  • Ps got a fourth positive OPK my cycle today. Confusing:-/

  • Just keep watching the temps. It's possible you haven't O'd yet, or you already did and are still getting positive OPK's. I got positives after ovulation this month myself. Just try to be patient (I know it's easier said than done), time will tell!

  • The Kindara app doesn't have any tutorials unfortunately (at least that I could find). You'll have to wait a few days and see if you can see the difference in pre O and post O temps. Then make your best guess as to which day/temp is your temp shift.

I like it better than FF in this aspect because FF seems to follow a specific algorithm to pinpoint O, which is usually correct but not always. Sometimes I disagree with FF (like this cycle) and I like that I can choose which O day I believe to be correct. I'm trying out Kindara this month so I'll see which I prefer.
  • I looked closer at your chart--since you still have fertile CM it might be possible that O hasn't happened yet...
  • Yeah, the CM is def a positive thing. It will be interesting to see what happens with the temp. I'm anxious to find out if I'm actually ovulating or if my body keeps revving up and not dropping an egg, which was my fear with months of multiple pos OPKs . I didn't know you could get a positive opk after ovulation! That's def good to know! :-)

You can override you O date on FF - it switches your CHs to blue.
