DH doesn't like that bassinets aren't really safety regulated like cribs are, so we will just cram the crib into our room. I think he has a valid concern, so I'm not arguing with him. Plus, why spend the extra money on a bassinet?
A combination of the Rock n Play and sleeping in our bed, if it works out like it did with our first. We'd usually do the swing until we went to bed, then the Rock n Play, then I'd pull him into bed with me after my husband left for work. We transitioned to a crib at 7 months.
Since this LO and my DS will be room sharing, Our first try will be to move the crib to our room if possible.
If crib doesn't fit as planned, LO will likely sleep on Rock n Play until he/she starts to roll. Then we'll likely be moving crib back to room with DS.
If crib fits this LO will be in our room until he/she sleeps through the night. Which... For the record... I'm hoping is sooner than DS. He's 17 months and we're still working on that. Grrr....
I really don't know at this point. We were hoping to be in a bigger house by the time a second baby came, but it doesn't look like that will happen. We'll have to move furniture around and see what will work best. I'm thinking either the pack-and-play or a small crib initially in our room, and then moved to another room after the first few weeks (or even sooner). We all slept a LOT better once we moved DD to her own room at 5 weeks.

Rock n Play in our room and then transition to crib in nursery.
My last baby was born before rock n plays were invented so I've never had one. For anyone that used one, is it difficult to transition to flat lying sleep position after being inclined for so long? That has been my concern about buying one, but I must admit they look pretty cool. How did the transition work for those who've done it?
Honestly you will do whatever works just to get some sleep in the beginning and worry about it after. My DD never liked sleeping flat on her bk so it was a but of a transition but if I have to do it again to get sleep I will.
Probably a mix of stuff. I borrowed a bassinet for the girls to begin with, depending on what kind of a night it is, occasionally they were in bed with me, but they make a lot of noise (grunts, wiggling, etc) and I don't super love the broken sleep/waiting for them to wake, so I prefer them to sleep in the nursery.
We will do the rock n play again until around 4-5 months then transition to crib. With the first at the transition we just elevated the mattress and slowly brought it down to flat. The RnP is great for reflux!
We just upgraded to a king size bed specifically for bed sharing (and also because I love to sleep in all of the bed). I am getting one of the snuggle nest things because I'm a heavy sleeper and I worry about rolling over on the baby in the first few months. My mom and my sister have both told me that I won't do that, and I know I'm probably being overly cautious but I'll be more comfortable that way.
To kind of reiterate what Empire said, baby will decide. We have a bassinet, a crib, and a pretty big bed. Whatever helps everyone sleep is what we will utilize. We learned to not really prepare or anticipate for what we would like to happen...There were nights DD and I spent together, wedged into the reclined couch, just to sleep.
No idea yet. Sometimes kids like to mess with the best laid plans and just don't want to sleep where we want them to. We'll have a bassinet, probably in our room for a while, but for all we know, offspring will only want to sleep in the car seat. So, we'll figure it out as we go.

We didn't really have issue with the transition. We started with naps and a few weeks after he got used to naps in the crib, we put him there overnight.

Same here. Although before we transitioned, we had a hard time getting her to sleep in anything else for a long amount of time. When we traveled for Xmas, we tried cosleeping but DD woke up every couple hours (when she was sleeping though the night at home). We finally found a friend that had a RnP we could borrow and she slept all night again. Surprisingly we had no issue transitioning starting with naps, but we didn't transition until 6 months old (DD was really small). We're hoping to do the same.

I'm hoping for an arm's reach co-sleeper, as we've recently moved and our room isn't large enough for the pack & play bassinet like we've previously done.
Bassinet.. With my first I used rock n play because she had reflux and screamed when laying flat ... It was the hardest transistion ever for me to get her from RnP to crib
I voted crib, but baby will probably co-sleep for a few weeks.
We made it 3 weeks with Logan before moving him to his crib. None of us were sleeping well. (I also had a hard time nursing in bed, it was easier in my nursery chair.) He slept much better in his crib. I love our video monitor. He is a very loud and wiggly sleeper, so seeing him prevented me from needing to get up every two seconds to check on him when he made noise.
I have heard quite a few parents have issues transitioning from the angled RnP to a flat crib. It would fit perfectly into the tiny space in our room, but I don't want to risk it. I would rather transition straight to the crib.
Planning on a crib. We may be getting one from my sister but unsure if we are actually going to take her up on it (it's a really nice expensive crib but is about 8 yrs old...not sure about the safety part of things)
I am a FTM and so far I plan on a pack n play in our room for the first few months. I was looking at bassinets, but I can't imagine spending that much money on something used for so short of a time period. Glad to see I am not alone with the pack n play choice!

Better safe than sorry, definitely, but for what it is worth, I am a VERY heavy sleeper but when my babies were born, I developed mom ears (as DH calls them) and suddenly you can hear everything. DH never hears them wake up, and I hear every little peep.
Our goal is to have a side sleeper (possibly made from a crib) but reading all the responses here make me want to get a RnP just in case. Better to have a few options right?
Re: What will your LO sleep in?
