s/o Gardening

What are some good toys for outside, for a toddler? We have a small enclosed yard and garden. The patio is about 8' x 16', but is mostly occupied by furniture. The lawn is about the same size.

So far we have a 10" diameter bouncy ball, and a kiddy pool that I can put ball-pit balls in until it gets warmer. Other than that I'm not sure what else is good for outside. Would love to hear some ideas!

  • We have a small area for kids/dog. Right now we have a folding slide, kiddie pool, wagon, and a bubble lawn mower. Plus the usual balls and side walk chalk. If we had more pavement they'd have a cozy coupe and trikes. However, we don't. So they have that at MIL's. We're thinking of getting and inflatable bounce house though.

  • DS is 22 months.
  • Here's a crappy photo of our backyard, through an upstairs window, to give you an idea of how small our space is.
  • When in doubt, side walk chalk and bubbles.

  • What about like a sand table or water table?

In our case, a small trampoline was like the gateway to a bigger trampoline and then a huge trampoline.  Watch out!  :)

I second side walk chalk, bubbles, and a water or sand table.  Also G has a mini broom and a shovel that supposed to be for sand that he loves to pretend he's scooping snow with.  What about one of those kiddie basketball hoops or kiddie soccer goals?

  • We have Tupperware containers for sand and water. I bought some plastic "gems" on amazon and buried those in the sand and she digs them up. Bubbles. We have a mister that goes on the hose, last summer she also loved the hose with the shut off thing on the end turned on just a tiny bit so it sprayed everywhere. She likes to water with her watering can. Cats. Cat food. Chasing the cats with the cat food.

  • DS still hasn't figured out how to ride his cozy coupe. I curse the thing every time we get it out. Thankfully he's doing better with the 2nd hand ride-on toy we bought last week.

  • I wonder if our lawn is even big enough for a cozy coupe to do a 3-point turn ...
