GMD Gurus - Question About Resale

I'm in the process of building my NB stash with GMD prefolds and I feel like I'm missing something. Please enlighten a newbie 
If you order the NB PFs through GMD you can get 12 for $25, plus $5 shipping if you spend less than $75 (so let's say 12/$30 or $2.50 each).
I've joined diaperswappers and local b/s/t groups and am seeing people sell used NB GMD PFs for about what they are new. I was able to get some for $1.25 each (yay) but the majority of the time they're at least $2/each not including shipping.
Do they just really hold their value well? Do some people prefer to buy used since they're already prepped?
