Potty question (Sorry, "Search" Fail)

I had been ignoring most potty posts because I figured I had another year before he was ready - and maybe he still does ...

However, this week he's started announcing when he's pooping. Is this a big sign he's ready or just something he could do for a year without being ready? I'm lost.

Any experience? What ebooks can I buy? What's online?

(I did scroll back over a month looking after the "search the board" failed.)

He could be ready for poop training. DD#1 was poop trained almost a full year before she was fully pee trained. I'd just put him on the potty when he says he has to poop, but don't stress about accidents. Pull ups do make life a lot easier.

I think it depends. DS has announced his poops for a few months now but is nowhere near being ready to try potty training.
