Chafing

I wore a long skirt yesterday, and by the end of the day I wanted to rip my legs off because of the chafing. :(( I have a couple of cute maxi dresses that I'd like to wear once the weather gets warmer, but I do not want to deal with chafing every time.

How do you stop it from happening?

My thunder thighs and I thank you in advance :-*

  • Gold Bond works pretty well.
  • Lanacane Anti-Chafing Gel stays on a nice long time and doesn't make a mess.

  • I have a pair of vented Nike Capri length stretches that I wore under all long skirts at the end with DD's pregnancy. They were great bc they are for running so they helped keep me cool...sort of. ;)

  • I use Monistat soothing care chafing relief powder-gel.  Works really well.  I've also heard it's a good makeup primer.  :)

  • I wear my husband's boxer briefs and use BodyGlide (my bff during a half marathon too).
I also have maternity spanx thingies that aren't really made to suck you in, but to smooth you out and have shorts so you don't chaffe.

Chafing thighs is the story of my life, pregnant or not.

I had no idea there were actual anti-chafing products other than just basic powder. I may have to upgrade from deoderant.

  • I recommend maternity spanx. When I was pregnant with my first, I was heavier and had chafing issues. The spanx were nice when I had a dress on. But let me tell you. In the summer, those bad boys are hot and uncomfortable. So you'll want to either find a lighter material or not use em at all. Lighter material worked for me.
  • I second the deodorant. I made the mistake of wearing a sun dress to a Kenny Chesney concert a couple years ago in 90 degree heat. The next day my inner thighs were so chafed and swollen I wanted to die.

  • @sxymamakat‌ , @gwennie357‌ , @HoneyBee517‌ - where do you find these things? If I just knew what kind of products they would be located with at Walmart or target, that would help. I would love to be able to wear dresses this summer!

BodyGlide anti chafing stick (and most other brands) is available at any sporting goods store. I get mine at Dick's or a small running store in town. You can also order off Amazon.

  • Thanks, ghost! I hate going to our sporting goods stores here (they are so overpriced), but I may just have to break down and go. I have a baby shower to go to today, so I may wear a dress just so I can test out the deo trick before investing in the others.

  • I second the spandex/cotton shorts idea :) never tried any of the anti chafing stuff may have to now!
  • @abchittam‌ I actually got my product on Amazon.com, it was about $8.80 for a 1.5 oz tube. You can try Walgreens if you have one in your area.

  • The body glide saved my life during my marathon! I had chafing along my bra line and I would bleed and it was awful. Enter body glide... sweet relief.

Monistat chafing gel. Usually near the astroglide at target. I use it in my thighs, mister uses it in his moobs when running long distances.
