Little venting about my OB

Alrighty this is my second pregnancy! Yay!! The lab results confirmed it this morning and we immediately called the OB. Most OBs (even with my first) can get you in either in a week or two. My OB doesn't want to see me till the end of April (around 10 weeks.) IM SO MAD! More like frustrated, but what can I expect? I live on an Army Post and there are A LOT of women who are preggers. I guess I'm just nervous that something will happen before 10 weeks and I won't know about it till then. Thanks for listening (reading)....anyone else have some crazy OB stories?

Agreed. I'm on Tricare now and if I hadn't had previous complications my MTF OB clinic likes to get you in for the first appointment between 8-10 weeks. If you don't call right when you get your BFP it's more likely closer to 10 because they have a lot of people to get in. And, as others have said, that appointment is generally just family history/vitals/maybe another pee test.

In my experience with my MTF, if you do have any complications (spotting/severe cramping) you can call the OB clinic Triage Nurse and they do get you in as soon as they can, so you don't have to worry about not being seen if something like that happens before the appointment.

...I'm confused. If this is your second pregnancy why are you surprised you won't be seen before 10 weeks? This is my first, our first appointment I was almost 12 weeks, I thought that was pretty routine. And yes, I also have tricare.

I have tricare and they saw me at 6 wk and again at 8 weeks. All the doctor/nurse did at 6 weeks was take my stats and have me POS, so really i already knew that information. I always feel excited for doctor's appt, but having them spread out or delayed wouldn't change the fact that we are pregnant! Enjoy the extra time

1.) I don't see the problem or even a cause for getting pissed. What you describe sounds average.

2.) IMHO "preggers" makes me question the maturity & intelligence of anyone that uses it beyond the age of 16.

Once you've already been pregnant, it's normal to not be seen until 12 weeks, unless you have fertility issues or assistance conceiving.

Busy Army Post or not, what you're describing is totally normal

Sounds normal to me. Like PP said. I have Tricare and I wasn't seen until 8 weeks, and that was just for family history and such. I didn't get to hear a heartbeat or anything until 10 weeks.

Normal. I'm on tricare too. 8-12 weeks is standard.

Most doctors don't see patients for their first prenatal appt until somewhere between 8-12 weeks, depending on the doctor. Totally normal, so try to not to stress about it.

In terms of something happening, if something happens, there is nothing you or they can do about it at that point, so getting in early probably isn't gong to prevent or help anything. The wait sucks, but keep yourself occupied and it'll fly by.

Ok, really? You all don't have to be rude. I was not on Tricare for my first pregnancy. They saw me at 6 and 8 weeks so that it was I thought the norm was. I am high risk and I did call as soon as I got my BFP. I didn't know the norm was 10 weeks, from all the other posts and from my experience it's 6 or 8 weeks.

Thank you to those who let me know kindly. Again, had no idea because my first pregnancy was a different story.

You really need to tone it down on flipping out over people being "mean". And stop saying preggers because it makes you sound like you have the intelligence and maturity of a 10 year old.

Agreed. I am high risk (due to issues with pregnancy with DD), but that doesn't make a difference in the first tri care (or even until after 20 weeks). Youre "vent" about your OB is stupid.

8-10 weeks is average for any new appointment unless you have had previous complications or miscarriages.

I'm having my first OB appointment tomorrow. I'm 9 weeks. I thought that was pretty standard? It is where I live anyway. I think they usually only see you earlier if there are potential complications.
