Tips for going back to work

I've been fortunate enough to stay at home with C since he was born and finally decided I was ready to get back into the work force. At least I thought I was. I start tomorrow (I'll be an RN at his peds office) and I have so much anxiety about leaving C. He will be going to dacare and I think he will really enjoy it. I've been with him every single day and the longest I've left him so far is maybe 4 hours. I know these first few week will be difficult but I was wondering if those if you who have already gone back to work had any tips to make this transition as easy as possible. I was excited at first but now I'm almost dreading it.

I went back to work 7 months ago. I cried for weeks leading up to leaving her and the first couple of days that I left her. I visited at lunch for the first couple of weeks and then slowly weened from that. Definitely have pictures and videos handy and don't hesitate to check in with daycare when you feel like it. I text them daily still just to feel connected to her and know how she's doing.

And come do @beaubecca's weely check in.  It makes me feel better each week that passes.

My DCP sends a picture and a short update at lunch everyday. Those pics and notes brighten my whole day.

Today actually went very well! I was a mess all last night but held it together this morning. My husband did the drop off at daycare and C did just fine. They said he had a great time and went down for naps very easily (which I was worried about since he's in a different environment). Luckily, I was very busy at work all day which made the time fly by. Thanks again for all the support!

I'm glad your day went well. It's great that C napped and had a great time at daycare and that your day went quickly. Knowing your LO is happy is a blessing. I hope things continue to go well!
