help gaining weight

at my last appt. (11w4d) I had lost a few lbs. The nurse and Dr. weren't so pleased and are worried about my appetite. I have had m/s but haven't thrown up and I feel as though I eat ALL THE TIME!! I'm suppose to gain 4lbs by my next appt. on Jan 20th and so far no luck. I've read to add condiments to my food and drink my calories more often but everything else I have googled just says that it is ok to gain weight and what the avg. is and how to lose it pp. any suggestions? thanks!!

Re: help gaining weight

  • Are you using full fat products (like whole milk, cheese, salad dressing, etc.)? If not, but sure to switch to those.

You can also aim for healthy high-calorie foods, like dried fruit, peanut butter, nuts, cereals, avocados, and so on.

Add condiments to the food you cook - use extra oil (olive oil or canola oil), honey, half and half, etc.

A great shake you can make would use whole milk, peanut butter, bananna, and full fat yogurt, and honey. That could pack a lot of calories while still being healthy!

  • The full fat products will definitely help. You could also drink more fluids throughout the the day to help.  Good luck and don't stress toomuch about it.Wink
  • I would eat more protein and make some smoothies with a scoop of safe, healthy protein powder. That will help you safely gain and at a healthy pace. you don't just want to sit and eat a tub of butter for the sake of gaining weight because that will be completely hard to lose PP. Losing healthy weight PP is easy!!! And it usually sheds off...so go for the smoothie with tons of your fave fruits and some quality protein!!!
