what's the big dif? Formula

I'm starting to get coupons for toddler formula instead of infant formula. I see on the container that there is more nutrients and such in the toddler, so I'm wondering if I should switch. Thoughts?

  • You can stick with regular formula till 12 months, but we're transitioning to Gerber Graduates since it's cheaper. I don't think there's any Earth shattering differences, just different levels of certain vitamins based on the needs of the aging baby.

  • I noticed it was chealer today to, which is why I asked! You think there's a transistion process or just rip off the bandaid?

I read an article recently that stated it is simply rebranded baby formula in an effort to get people to continue to use formula beyond 12 month mark. I wish I could find the link but google is no help at the moment.

Well when I looked on the container today, there was nutritional differences (like twice the protein) but I can see companies trying that!

It may be a shock to LO's system to just switch right over. I'd start incorporating 1/4 of the new into 3/4 of what LO is used to for every bottle for a day or two, then do half and half for a day or two, and so on until you are fully switched.

This is how we transitioned our LOs to milk.

  • My aunt is a pediatric NP and said that some of the toddler formulas like the Enfagrow that is flavored can be a good way to give them extra nutrition when they go through picky eating phase. Kids will usually drink it because it tastes pretty good and it's well balanced for a snack. It shouldn't replace food or cows milk by any means but I'm sure sometime soon R will refuse to eat anything but chicken nuggets and this will a way to make sure he's getting nutrients.
