Shooting of teen boy in Texas

Have you guys heard about this?

I think it's incredibly tragic.

Summary: 16 year old daughter invites 17 year old boy (new to the town) over. Dad is woken at 2am by another child who says someone is in the house. He hears noises from his daughter's room, and when he goes in he finds the teen boy and his daughter says she doesn't know him. He argues with the teen boy, they struggle, and then the boy is shot and killed.

I've heard a number of people say the daughter should be charged and that charges against dad dropped. What does parenting think?

  • I'm really glad my mom didn't grab her gun when she caught me with a boy over in the middle of the night. She just made him go home.

  • The suggestion of charging the daughter is nonsense based on this short blurb.

Well the people saying this used the word "skank" to describe the daughter and said she should have known what would happen when she lied.

They also argue that pretty much any dad who catches a boy raping (in his mind) his daughter is likely to lose his mind and do something like this (this being pull the trigger.

So assholes think the girl should be charged.

  • How awful. There is no crime to charge the daughter with. Telling a lie is not a crime. I can't imagine that she would have said she didn't know him if she knew her dad was going to shoot him.
