carpal tunnel postpartum....

Has anyone had carpal tunnel during their pregnancy, and if so, since the birth of your LO has the symptoms lessened or disappeared yet? I have suffered from this since I was 5 months pregnant, and now my son is 2 weeks old and I still have numbness in both hands, especially in the fingertips and palms of my hands.  I am hoping that within time it will go away.

Re: carpal tunnel postpartum....

  • DS2 was born Dec 26th. I had it really bad in both hands, but worst in my right for approx the last 2 mo of pregnancy. The numbness in my right hand lasted weeks PP. It finally faded just before my 8w PP appt with my OB.

Hopefully it will fade for you soon! Of course, if you still feel symptoms by your PP follow up  appt, I'd be sure to ask your Dr about it.

  • My lasted 9wks PP with my first DD and 5wks PP with my second DD. The way I held my first DD made the symptoms worse and caused mommy thumb. It's very annoying, keep your wrists iced as much as possible. Drink lots of fluids and take an anti inflammatory. Keep the hands elevated as much as possible. Good luck!
