Need in idea for my Best Friend.

My BF's dad passed away yesterday. When I go to see her I want to get her something. Should a person stick to something traditional like flowers and baking or maybe something like a spa package?

Also, part of me wants to jump in the car and go to be with her, or should I wait a while? I'm sorry that I'm so clueless, I've never been in this situation before.

I'm trying to imagine if it were my best friend. Honestly I think I'd jump in the car and go. If possible leave your kids at home though. 

As to what to get, that's a tough one. At this point a thoughtful card would be nice, and maybe some homemade freezer meals. But honestly I think just being there will be a comfort.

My best friend lost her Dad on New Year's Eve. Is your friend in your city? Honestly if you could swing it to visit, go. I think the best thing was just helping my friend through funeral planning, etc. but she had no other family, and she is single. If your friend has a SO or kids, or siblings they may have lots of help there. Food is always good, everyone brings meals but what about things like milk, coffee, etc. offering to clean up the house for visitors is nice too. I am sure any gesture is appreciated.
