Frozen

The DVD came out today and my FB feed is blowing up about it. Thing is. It was available for streaming, like, two weeks ago in Amazon. You still had to pay for it, but it was available. Is the DVD made of gold and come with a free unicorn or something? Someone explain.

Re: Frozen

  • I'm debating whether to stream it for DD or not. She is obsessed with Despicable Me, but we have the DVD. I don't really want to but the DVD, but I may have to if she likes it a lot. #FWP

  • Loading the player...
  • I mean maybe if I catch it on DirecTV way on down the line, I'll watch or let DS watch to see if he's into it but... I'm just not going to go out of my way at all.. Nope. ::Stubborn::

  • H brought a copy home for LO and I today :) Haven't seen it yet, super excited. It's LO'S first Disney movie, unless you count Marvel films towards Disney. Then Iron Man was his first.

I want to know if there's a sad part that's going to make me cry.  I refuse to ever see it even free on TV if that's the case...

Examples: Mufasa dying in the Lion King, the beginning of Up, Bambi, Dumbo, Fox and the Hound etc etc

I am pretty sure that EVERY SINGLE Disney movie has a scene like this @spacegirlspiff
That is true, there is a sad scene (at least one) in every Disney movie... however there are some I can bear far more than others

Peter Pan doesn't really have one.... Robin Hood... Sword in the Stone (it gets a LITTLE sad when the little girl squirrel is sad).... The Little Mermaid... Cars... Toy Story 1 and 2 (3 was iffy, but I managed).... Cinderella.... These I can handle.

  • Levi saw it tonight at my sister's.  She said she cried like a baby, and he said that it was a waste of time that he could have used to play playstation.  So, that is that.  Hype 1/2 over here.  Wyatt still wants to see it, I told him we could order it tomorrow.

  • DD effing loves it. I think it is pretty progressive as far as a Disney princess movie goes. Not the usual "a man is gonna come save me with a kiss" BS. More girl power. Did the world really need one more white princess though? Disney needs to work harder to be more diverse.

  • Actually, the theme of Frozen isn't standard. Anna Doesn't marry the fist guy she meets, which is very pointedly referencing how every other Disney Princess did just that. I can't think of another Disney Princessmovie where the "evil queen"

  • I love that so many kids love this movie.  It's great to see kids loving something with so much heart.

I don't like that it has all become so political.

  • That is one.  I feel like a lot of people feel like they needed some deep seeded reasons for liking, or even disliking this movie.  Like it because you like it, or don't because you don't.  Not because it has some hidden meaning, or because it's just another disney movie.

I apparently have feelings about this today.  I'm not sure why.

  • We got the DVD today and just finished watching it (just H and I; we're kinda like little kids sometimes). We both really liked it and laughed a lot.

I love the snowman. So funny!
    Lilypie - (KNqh)
  • We saw it when it first came out and both my kids loved it (DH and I liked it too.) Claire was just barely 2 then and she sat through the whole movie. She asks for Anna and Elsa videos on YouTube. I think I am the only person on Facebook though who didn't buy it today.

  • I liked it because it is humorous. I laughed a lot.

I *might* have promised my kid I would buy it for her if she agrees to give up her paci at night. Yes, my 3.5 year old still uses her paci at night. I'm a failure.
