AMH level question

I just found out my AMH level is .42. I did my first IUi on 3/01 resulted in a BFN. The RE wants to do 2 more IUI's before we discuss next step. Does anyone have any info about AMH levels. Starting to get discouraged, nervous and frustrated.

Re: AMH level question

  • I have AMH issues. In fact mine came back undetectable multiple times. The number is an indication of your ovarian reserve. Have you also had your FSH drawn? My RE believes that AMH is an indication of quantity whereas FSH can indicate quality. Either way, I've seen success stories even when these numbers might indicate it was hopeless. In our case, we weren't a "success story" in the respect of using my own eggs. But we also have MFI so we moved right onto donor embryos which did ultimately work out for us.

Getting the diagnosis of low AMH was very difficult. You may also want to post on the main infertility board. There are lots of ladies over there with low AMH and even a DOR checkin you could be added to. *hug*

  • Correction my AMH level is .67, but my FSH and LH are in the normal range. So just hope that just one good egg will take.

I have horrible numbers. No AMH and FSH over 20. Your numbers aren't great but certainly not terrible. I would have loved to have numbers like that, it's all about perspective :) I really hope your IUIs work for you.

    This is just my perspective:
My AMH number is low (0.3) but I have had decent number of eggs retrieved (12,10,13) for each IVF and have had a good number survive until day 5 to make it to freeze.
Each loss I have had where the products of conception could be tested, the genetics were normal.

I have used the information to gauge how quickly I should move forward, but haven't let it devastate me because there is nothing I can do about it.
For example, we are currently 7w pregnant by surrogate. I am going to do another IVF cycle in May and freeze all. I am doing this now because of my AMH level and to give us some options down the road.

We have been fortunate enough to have IF coverage. If we didn't, I would have pushed for IVF much sooner (we went through 3 IUIs as well bc it was mandated by insurance). The odds are just much better in most cases.

HTH, feel free to PM me if you want to talk about it more.

  • We also are lucky to have insurance coverage for IUI and IVF. Not sure if the insurance mandates how many times we do IUI before we can move to ivf. The only thing that is out of pocket is the donor sperm. My husband genetically does not have the male reproductive gene.
  • I have super low AMH levels (1st test <0.16, 2nd test after several months of acupuncture only 0.26). Here is a link I sent a friend, when she was having her AMH level tested recently. Even though I already had a general understand from my one experiences over the last few years, I found the information useful.
