Different name?

So my sister just had her baby and named him Oaklynd. Thoughts!? Not that anyone cares but I'm currently pumping at work and I'm bored so wanted to see If was the only one that doesn't really like the name or the spelling. What are some others that you gals have heard recently?

Re: Different name?

  • I love the name Silas and I know I very nice Silas so that name is dear to my heart!! And I love Charlotte!! That was 1 of the top 5 girl names if I would have had a girl!:).

  • I always shake my head at parents that spell their child's name awkwardly on purpose. I mean why? It's just going to be a pain in the but for that kid for the rest of his life. Oh well.
  • I'm not a fan, the Y in it makes it seem feminine to me. Someone recently named their baby cashton, not crazy about that either.. I like Charlotte rose, whoopi goldbergs new great great granddaughter is named Charlie rose, I wonder if its the same person!!
  • Congrats on your nephew! Oaklynd is NMS. I agree the "y" seems feminine. I absolutely love the name Charlotte. It was my first pick for a girls name but DH thought it would be weird if we had a Charlotte and Savanah. I still insist it would have been cute but he was afraid people think we were obsessed with southern towns.
  • I kind of like the name but agree not the spelling. I feel like its close to being a cool name but isn't quite right, maybe if it was Oaklin or Oaklen, obviously Oakland would at least be spelled better.
I just met a baby girl Emilee thought it was an ok spelling but she'll probably have to correct people a lot.
  • Nope.

  • I just don't get " Oaklynd"---- how is this a name?? Is the y to replace an "i" or an "a"? Would his NN be "oak" or oaky? So many questions! But, congrats on your baby nephew!!
  • Really NMS. Especially with the awkward spelling.

That name is dumb. Unique spellings make me want to punch people in the face.

Also, this subject got me excited AGAIN that someone wanted to change their LO's name. I really want that thread.

I've been waiting for this thread too...

Ok, I'll bite, Wednesday confession: before I had my PPD/PPA under control I was sure we'd named Lydia wrong. I legit cried one day because I was sure we gave her the wrong name. I think it's silly now but I was seriously upset in the moment.

Edited because my fat thumb hit post too soon.

  • My Facebook has been full of "NMS" names lately.

    Girls:
    Memphis
    EverLeigh
    Jonah
    Elliot
(I'm not a fan of the "boy's names on girls" trend)

    Those are terrible!
  • My cousin tried to get our whole family to start calling her daughter Taylor, Taya instead. This was when she was 8. We all side eyed her and kept calling her Taylor. That was 4 yrs ago. Some weird BS.
Oh...and Oaklynd, not cool at all. Poor kid. It reminds me of a guy I dated named Shade. He went by Shane instead even though his parents tried to give him a "cool" name.
