TTC after 35

Introduction (Children mentioned)

Hi everyone!

I am 38 and my wife is 43. My wife has a 12 year old daughter, which was conceived through IUI and Donor Sperm, and we also have a 22 month old daughter together. My wife has been an Egg Donor three times, and she has had ten 'batches' of her own eggs frozen. To have DD, we had IVF using my sperm and one 'batch' of DW frozen eggs (got pregnant with DD on first try!). We are having assisted contception again, and are again having IVF using my sperm and DW frozen eggs, but have been told that the likelihood of DW being able to carry again is very low, and have been advised to look for surrogates if the first round of IVF does not work, as it will save time.

  • You may come in handy……..i love the idea of having a dude around for advice on the mans point of view. It could help especially those times when i want to hit mine with a brick.

  • Welcome. I did have to read post twice. I thought you were same sex couple at first. My bad, I missed the part about using your sperm. Any hoo welcome to our group.
I don't see why your wife would have trouble if her eggs were retrieved at a younger age and you are doing IVF. But I'm no expert. But I hope you are successful.

And @KirstenAlecia I wouldn't judge you if a brick did hit your husband. Lol

  • @KirstenAlecia Haha, I'm sure my wife would like to hit me with a brick sometimes. But if ever you want my 'mans insight' to anything, just give me a shout!

@hooligans4 The problem isn't the age of my wife's eggs. She has a very small amount of irremovable scar tissue on her womb which some got after having DD which will probably stop her from being able to carry a child.

    Hi Kai and welcome!

This will be my first cycle using donor eggs next month. I am so thankful for women like YW. What an incredible gift she is giving to help others have a child.

I'm also on the Third-Party Reproduction board and there are a few ladies using a surrogate so if you and YW have any specific questions you can introduce there too! Both boards are awesome!!

    Good luck to you :)

    ME:46 MH:44 DE IVF 2014
Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive.  Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

    DE IVF #1 (4/26) BFN  DE FET #1 (6/4) BFP! Beta 1=339 Beta 2=852 Beta 3=9957 EDD 2/22/15!!
