Snoring husbands

I'm sure plenty of you have this issue.  What do you do about your husband's snoring?  Nose strips?  Mouth guards?  Smother him with a pillow?

Between the toddler who likes to take midnight strolls through the house, the baby who thinks sleeping ends at 3, and the dead-to-world snoring DH, I am about to lose my freaking mind.

Re: Snoring husbands

  • I MADE him get evaluated for sleep apnea. He now has a CPAP mask as his apnea is severe

  • My case he has a cpap. He still sleeps in another room because in my mind I can hear the ever so light swooshing sound. If he forgets to put it on its awful!!!

  • The only thing that works is for me to move around a lot. Jab him, kick him, whatever..I just have to make it stop.

  • My husband should really go get checked for sleep apnea.  I have been ready to kill him lately.  There has been a lot of me moving to the couch in the middle of the night and I'm so tired of it!

  • Before H lost 60 pounds he would snore like a bear and I would make him roll over or re- position himself. I would also try to fall asleep before he would come home from work. But now he doesn't snore at all. One night it was so bad, I came up with a plan to hold his nose and mouth at the same time and make him wake up.
  • Sounds like maybe talking to a doctor about sleep apnea might be the right idea.  I didn't realize how common that was.
  • Yeah, CPAP. My father, sister, brother in law, wife and father in law all have them.

  • I sleep with a fan and hit/kick/shove him to roll over. I really think he has sleep apnea. He won't listen. He's in peek physical shape, like maybe 10% body fat and that's a big maybe, so that isn't the problem. Some times it isn't snoring it's this weird breathing that is a weird noise that is almost worse than the snoring. Makes me go all grrr.

He should get checked out. Sleep apnea is lots more than snoring and not everyone who has it is overweight.
Oh, I know. He has a phobia of any sort of medical office/building or doctor. He had lots of surgeries when he was little and gets all anxious.

  • H sleeps in another room. Neither one of us was sleeping. His snoring was keeping me awake and my elbowing him constantly was keeping him awake. His doctor doesn't believe he has sleep apnea and won't even evaluate him. He snores when he is overweight. He is working out now and losing weight so hopefully that means he can move back in soon.

  • I wish my DH would get a sleep study done...his snoring is horrendous! In the meantime, he wears a mouthguard and sleeps on his side (I have to smack him with a pillow if he rolls onto his back because he still snores) plus I use a white noise machine for the baby, which serves the dual purpose of somewhat drowning him out. I really wish he'd quit being stubborn and see a doctor though...

  • I got him this tongue-holding mouthpiece: https://snoringmouthpiecereviewshq.com/best-sleep-apnea-mouthpiece-reviews/ . Helped pretty well, his snoring is almost gone :)

Sorry you're in the hell of sleep deprivation.
My H had Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty to remove his tonsils and uvula (hangy ball) but somehow still manages to snore sometimes. Apparently it was ba-ad before (according to MIL & SIL)
If it was keeping me up when we had 2u2 you bet he would've been on the couch.
Also, our pedi asked if DD snores b/c she has "generous tonsils and uvula" generous my ass!
