trigger tonight. input on follicles size?

Girls, I need your honest opinion.

I was told to trigger tonight, but it just seems to me that it's too soon and too risky. I don't know my e2 today, it was nearing 500 two days ago. If an egg is not mature it will not fertilize or produce a viable zygote, so I am afraid this cycle is a waste. 

My previous cycles were follicles 19-20mm and bfn, so this is just not looking promising, and I don't want to cultivate any false hope, so tell me like it is.

My RE wouldn't trigger me this cycle until I had at least one follie at 18mm.  I know that different docs have different opinions on follie size though.  Hopefully your two 16's will do the trick for you.  FX for you!

My RE triggers (at least for IVF) when you have follies between 16-20 mm. The leading follicles (your 16s) are believed to be the best ones. It's better to trigger when those follicles are ready than to risk losing them while you wait for the others to possibly catch up. As Naria said - they will mature and may grow some more after the trigger shot!

I agree with everyone else, it is pretty likely that you will end up with 2 mature follicles by the time you ovulate. And there is maybe a possibility of a 3rd.  The trigger should help things along.  Good luck and FX for you!

I agree with everyone else. Just wanted to say last cycle I had 2 leading around 18-20 (I think) and the rest of mine were in the 9-12 range when I triggered. I had 3 eggs ended up releasing. So therefore 1 of my smaller ones grew a lot with my trigger. Good luck!!

I was just like you, I had one follicle a little over 15 and a handful around 13. I had hoped for a big 20 mm one, but that never happened. My E2 got to a little over 300 then dropped back down. My doc still had me trigger but we didn't do IUI, just TI. Trust in your doctor! When I was dubious about triggering my husband said "we're paying him for good results, he wants us to succeed!" and that made me feel better. Good luck!

Youll have two-three ovulate at optimum range. With that many growing, they made the right choice.
