Easter baskets

I need some suggestions for my 2 year old.

I'm thinking gold fish crackers, fruit snacks, lollipops, and a small container of something chocolate.

What does everyone do for theirs?

I already have a basket that's been passed down from my great grandmother and I'm going to get some fabric for inside.

  • Play dough and stickers. Also considering water colors.

I like the stickers suggestion. She really loves stickers.

I'm still not sure on play dough. I'm afraid of it getting stuck in the wood floors forever.

Another awesome suggestion. She runs around most of the time putting socks on her hands. And she needs some new ones.

  • Ug. I don't even know.

That's why I asked here. I had no clue other than candy. And she has so many books and toys.

  • More good idea, I'm going to need to save some of these for Christmas presents.

  • Ooh window crayons or markers. My kids love them for hours.

Love the idea, but our 60's house only has one window at that height and it's mostly blocked by furniture.

  • Ugh, I have no clue. DD has enough candy in our house to last a year...all from holiday stuff as I don't buy candy.  I usually get her books/small toys but it seems really repetitive.

  • We're doing a stuffed bunny, gear toys, garden gloves, a sewing machine, crayons, a coloring book, bubbles, water balloons, outside toys for her pool, a sun hat, and sunglasses for her basket. For the egg hunt, I'm doing seeds, snap blocks, stickers, colorful socks, and dollar coins.

  • I was not crazy about giving DS play-dough either, but it has been easy to clean up so far. I only get it out when I can keep a good eye on him. If you'd rather have something that won't crumble like dough, there are some gooey ones (not sure of the name) and Theraputty. I used to use Theraputty with my students by hiding pony beads in it and having them pull them out. It comes in different strengths and was great for building hand-strength to prep for writing, cutting, etc, but would definitely take supervision so they didn't eat the beads.

In a nutshell, Easter is when Christians celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus. It is also celebrated in more secular ways with Easter egg hunts, giving baskets of goodies, etc as a kind of way to say, "Woohoo, spring is finally here!"

  • Way too many good ideas in here, my bank account I already crying.

I may talk my husband into buying eggs and doing an egg hunt in our yard if the weather is nice and the yard isn't a mud pit.
