stupid question about giving blood

I was looking through the Red Cross' requirements to give blood and it says that you must be at least 150lbs to donate... I hadn't heard that requirement before... Is it new? Do they weigh you? I'm just trying to give some damn blood away!

    I've been giving for 14 yrs and that's always been one of the boxe I had to check

    I've had drs telling me for years that I should donate as my blood type is uncommon... Weird that they would suggest it knowing my weight.

    I had read the same information that @jerseygirl6411 did, which is why I was confused. But if its 110 then I can for sure give blood.

    I never heard of that.  I haven't donated in a while, but I have never been over 150 when I did. It must be a typo.  I would think something like 110 would make more sense for a woman.

    Yeah it was always about 110 when we ran blood drives in HS, I don't think they weigh you either...just a box check.
