High-Risk Pregnancy

Intro - High bp, placed on bed rest

Hello! This is my first pregnancy and I was diagnosed with gestational htn yesterday and placed on bed rest. I'm 31w2d. My bp was 140/80 at my last appt, I thought it was a fluke but my MW wanted me to check it periodically at home. It started to creep up 120s-130s/70s and yesterday it got to 144/88 so I had to go in for an appt where she placed me on BR. I'm still trying to wrap my head around everything, but I guess they are being very cautious about pre-e? I have to do a 24 hr urine to check for creatinine clearance and protein, and I have another appt with my MW on Thursday with a nst. I'm scared about everything but very thankful that I'm as far along as I am, the next milestone will be 34 weeks. Anyways, I hope you'll all allow me to join in! The support here seems awesome :-)

@toriisalemon‌ - I'm still doing my 24 hour urine test for protein. I turn it in at 10 this morning so I should know the results this afternoon or tomorrow. Did your doctor ever put you on blood pressure meds? My midwife said that they usually don't since it's a "band aid" and could cover up some major issues, but that doesn't make sense to me. If high bp is what's causing the problems (kidney/liver insufficiency, vision changes, seizures, HELLP syndrome, etc.) then I wonder why they don't just manage the bp. Were you on bed rest with your pregnancies? Thank you for sharing your experience with me!
