Pregnant after IF

What to Expect...

Hi ladies I have my first appointment with my ob/gyn this week and was wondering what is usually involved for the first appointment? They told me that the appointment will be at least an hour even though I am an existing patient. Just wondering what I should expect? Any insight is appreciated, TIA!!

Re: What to Expect...

  • Mine started with vitals and a urine sample. Then I went into an exam room to fill out some paperwork and answer some questions from the nurse. I was then taken to one of the OB's offices to talk about what to expect through the pregnancy as far as appointments and such. She then answered any questions I had and we talked about my medications, IF history...etc. She took me back to the exam room and I got changed into a gown. She then performed a vaginal exam, pap smear, checked my uterine growth, examined my bb's and listened to the baby's hb on doppler. She also wrote a script for me to go get b/w done.

This will be the longest OB appt you'll have during your pregnancy...the rest will last a half hour tops. GL!

  • I did vital signs and weight, urine sample, ultrasound, and spent about 15 minutes discussing things with my doctor. She let me ask tons of questions and answered them all very patiently. I got a nice goody bag with a bunch of samples in there :)

This for me also. Apart from the u/s there really wasn't a physical exam. I honk normally she might have examined boobs but I had had a mammo a few months prior.
  • With my first DD there was urine sample blood work, talked to the nurse examined by the Dr including ultrasound and Pap. Then I also had to talk to billing about all the costs throughout pregnancy and delivery and to set up a payment plan.
