Cloth Diapering

First time wearing CD overnight and we get a rash :(

So we put DD in a cloth diaper with a fleece liner overnight (for the first time) and she slept for 10 hours. In the morning her vagina and bum were very red. We have been CDing during the day for about a month and have never had a problem. Any suggestions on how to prevent this in the future? TIA

  • It might mean you have some build up that isn't enough to cause problems during the day but is overnight when it sits on her wet for longer. So the usual stuff for that. And or some kind of barrier like coconut oil or grandma els?

  • What kind of diaper was it?even with a fleece liner DS will sometimes break out if there isn't enough absorbency because then urine is sitting on his skin instead of in the diaper. If it isn't dripping wet, then I second either a reaction to the fleece itself or build-up.

Thanks everyone. We have used the fleece before and I applied coconut oil, so I don't think it's that. Could be build up I guess, but it was only the second time I had used that diaper. It was a Kawaii PnN with a microfiber insert and a hemp doubler.
  • The liner is micro fleece - maybe I need to add an extra rinse at the end to make sure all the detergent is out, or try a different detergent.
