What Kind of Diapers Will You Use?

Re: What Kind of Diapers Will You Use?

  • I am considering cloth diapers as well as a combination of recyclable or baby shower raffle diapers.

Not sure if I have the patience or the constitution for cloth, but I'd like to give it a try. Any experience with this?
We LOVE cloth and are entering round 3 in cloth. Highly recommend a trial through Jillian's Drawers or some other similar site, so you can try out different types and see what you like.

  • Cloth diapers like we do for my son. We mostly have pocket BGs in our stash. I use Huggies Pure and Natural when we travel.

  • I always used Costco brand and loved them.

  • I am so happy to see so many in support of cloth! My mom did cloth with me and I never hear of anyone doing it in my area, so I just assumed it was an old fashioned thing. I am super excited to have such a wonderful resource here. Now following the CD thread!

I plan to make my diapers and start with newborn. Found a bunch of free patterns and have them on my Pinterest. I love little baby things including little baby bottoms!

  • I will use pampers for newborn size, then switch to huggies. The pampers have a horrible smell that I just can't handle! I'm curious about cloth diapers but will have to eventually go back to work and they won't allow them at the daycare. Has anyone used them for the first few months and switched? I totally see the benefits.

  • Another faithful cloth user here! My DS (15 months) has been in cloth since day 1 - although I may hold off until 3 months with these babies. Those early baby poop diapers every 2 hours may be too much for me with twins, but we will see. He has been in daycare since he was 10 weeks old in cloth. Just get a good wet bag and show each instructor how to use them and there shouldn't be an issue. I think most daycares are getting on the CD train. I can't believe your daycare refuses. For what I pay, I expect them to use my CDs. They mix other kid's formula bottles, why not do this for me?

I honestly don't think they are a ton of work. You just have to have a good system. I spend maybe 2-3 minutes a day washing a poppy one out and we do a load every 2 days, it takes 5 minutes for me and DH to fold them up, so you are looking at 7-8 minutes in 2 days. Negligible, IMO.

  • We are doing cloth for sure. But I'll probably use disposables on trips to my parents house. I use pampers.

  • We used cloth for my daughter starting when she was 3 months old. Since this was a surprise pregnancy and a lot sooner than we planned on, looks like we will need to buy some more cloth ones! She's only 14 months
