Can your LO sing a whole song?

Like, pronouncing words and everything? My friend says her almost 2 year old can do it. DS can fill in words when we sing but he's never sung a whole song with the correct words.

Re: Can your LO sing a whole song?

  • No. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is "Up a High, Up Up Up a High".

  • Nope, not even close. She can sing A, B, C, D... and then trails off from there. She does love to sing to herself though, it's the same tune every time but most kids songs are.

Even a minor event in the life of a child is an event of that child's world and thus a world event.

  • Not a whole song. But she will do a good amount of songs. Like twinkle twinkle she knows a lot of the lines to. She sings along with the bubble guppies intro song. With ABC's she does a handful of letters.

  • Nowhere near it. Can fill in words for a few. The closest is "dolly sick docta bag hat" which is supposedly Miss Polly had a Dolly.
  • No. They repeat a word here and there but that's it.

When they pretend to "sing" they don't use real words or at least words that I understand.

Not quite, but close. I bet she can by 2. Now Benjamin... He's just now starting to sing on a regular basis, and he's 4.5! Such different kids.

  • Dagny requests a lot of songs and will sometimes "sing" along to the tune but not the right words at all! But, a friend of mine has a LO that just turned 2 and her daughter is super advanced verbally and she's been able to sing songs for a few months. So it's not out of the realm of possibility that your friends kid can. I think there's a large verbal range at this age between kids.

  • Haha no. He sings "keenkoh keenkoh" over and over again to the tune of twinkle twinkle little star. Buuuuut that's it.

  • He sings "Royals" word-for-word, and loves that there's a bee in the song ...

No. Not really. He does a couple hand motions for itsy-bitsy, but that's about it. He just started really talking these past couple weeks, so I'm not concerned about singing.
