Twin Girl Names

My twins are 18 days old and still remain nameless.  DH and I are having a hard time.

We are looking for "old names" that are not over used, but also not too clunky.

Here is our current short list of first names (which changes daily).

What do you thinik?  Any good combinations.

FWIW, my family is Greek and we know a few Calliopes.  Greek people pronounce it Cahl-YO-pee. I've never liked that, but I've always loved the American Cal-EYE-o-pee very much. Callie is a cute and accessible nickname.

It would be Cal-EYE-o-pee.  I mean if it is chosen.  It's a front runner.

I should have mentioned, we are sort of obligated to use Patricia (it's an old family name) as are the rest actually.

Whoops, just realized these are twin names.  I don't LOVE any of the other names as much as Callista, but Beatrice is very pretty.  Any chance of Aurora being pushed to FN status?

Horrible birth experience 5 days of complications in the hospital (re - c-section - blood transfusions, almost hysterectomy).  One baby I didn't meet for almost a week as she was in NICU and I couldn't get there.  Finally home, when Grandfather dies of a sudden heart attack and my DH had to travel to South Africa to settle affairs leaving myself a FTM and 80 year old mother to care for 2 twin preemies at home. 

Does that satisfy you?

Callista or Beatrice for Baby B - I'm leaning toward Beatrice but DH want's me to try Callista for a day or so. 

MN are still up in the air, but I believe it would be Faye and Ruth for MN

I guess I still don't understand. You had about 9 months to decide. You don't need to know what sex your babies are to start thinking about it....

At least you're making progress. Maybe by the time they are 6 months old they will have names. I get complications and life happens, but not having names it just silly. I had complications with my 1st pregnancy (that could have ended tragically) but I still managed to set aside time to name my son.

I guess I still don't understand. You had about 9 months to decide. You don't need to know what sex your babies are to start thinking about it....

Ah well, not really here to explain ourselves away.  One is not obligated to name their children prior to being born.  We had a short list of names to choose from, which we have shared here on this site.

Mostly a lurker here - but I have been following along as I think that all of your name choices are fabulous!  

It might be just me, but Patricia and Callista seem to be a bit of a tongue twister - both 3 syllables, and both ending in an "a."  Imagine trying to say their names very quickly together (and many times throughout the day!)  I mix my daughters' names up all the time, and they sound nothing alike (although they do start with the same letter.) Again, could be just me, but I wanted to call it out. 

Because of that, my vote is for Patricia and Beatrice - gorgeous sib set!!

Spoke to DH again today.  A decision has been made.

Patricia Ruth 

Beatrice Callista-Faye 

For some reason DH wants 3rd names.  So Patricia will likely end up with a 3rd name as well.  I'm trying to convince him on just 2 names because our last name is 3 words already!  

Thanks everyone for your help.  It really was helpful to hear the different combinations of our selected names.

I'm so sorry for your loss and horrible experiences, plus having to take care of everyone while your husband is across the world. At least the naming part is out of the way!

At the risk of sounding twinsie, Patricia Ruth-Mae and Beatrice Callista-Faye. That way they have the three names, mostly non-similar names, and the (afore mentioned) twinsie tie. Good choices.

But if DH agrees to go with one middle name, go with Faye instead of Callista. Kind of a mouthful.
