Has anyone washed a diaper?

My DH thought he would do a load of laundry this morning. He accidentally put a diaper in the wash and I when I went to switch it over the diaper had exploded and the gel pieces were in clumps all over. I didn't know what to do except put it on rewash. Has anyone done this? Did re washing the clothes work? Was anything ruined?

    Over here! (Hangs head in shame) lol
    Just remove as much gel as you can. Rewash and you're all good to go!

    I've done it twice but it also has never exploded on me.
