Weekly DD Update

So Reese had a wonderful week this week. The new port got put in last week, and the chemo started up again--so her doctor officially lifted house arrest. We went out a few times this week, and even had a playdate with a friend. (Which was the first time she saw a friend since January 12th, when we went to the hospital). The experience with being sick and all the hospital visits, had an opposite effect on Reese and made her NOT shy at all. She is not reserved anymore, and just loves having visitors and people over. 

In fact yesterday her friend was over (who has a pathological fear of doctors) and Reese was running after her yelling: "It's time for your check up! I need to listen to your heart. Don't worry, it is just a little pinch!". Poor friend. 

Amazingly, at least right now she is handling the chemo well. I was joking on Wednesday, she had chemotherapy AND general anesthesia for a spinal tap, and never took a nap. She seriously was bouncing off the walls all day long. She hasn't had any signs of nausea yet either. (she does take zofran daily though, so I think that works) Her hair is falling out quickly though, I anticipate it gone within 2 weeks  

Right now we go weekly for chemo and then we give her oral chemo at home. We also have to give her injections, which I HATE. Luckily, she doesn't seem to mind them that much--we have numbing cream for her skin, so she gets more mad that she is forced to sit on someone's lap then the actual shot.

The Dorothy outfits just melts me. What a little sweetie! I'm so happy you guys have been able to get out, and she looks to be having a great time. How are you doing? And how is your husband? You guys are so amazing to keep Reese in such good spirits!

Actually fairly well. Before she was diagnosed, she was incredibly difficult to be around--completely cranky,to the point that neither one of us "enjoyed" her much. In hindsights she was just feeling completely crappy. Now her personality is completely different and she is fun to be around and we enjoy her so much more. Because of that, we seem to be handling it okay. Our friends come over and they just are amazed at how happy and energetic she is. They said they would never know that she was on chemo daily if we didn't tell them. (minus the losing the hair part)

Reese sounds amazing and I'm not just being nice - I love that this whole ordeal has made her more outgoing!  What an amazing kid!  You'll continue to be in my thoughts!

Oh hugs!!!  I follow your updates on FB and love seeing her pictures and progress.  

I can't help but look at her age and wonder if had wanted to add to your family before she got sick?  Obviously a sick toddler is enough for one to deal with though.

We were talking about in the fall. However, she seriously became intolerable for a few weeks/months before she was diagnosed. It was miserable. I was getting frustrated at DH and DD because she was super clingy. Me going into the shower would cause a 15 minute screaming fit outside the door. It was exhausting! Now we know and feel terrible that she felt so sick, but at that time we said that we couldn't see having another because she wouldn't separate from me at all. Now, I can't see us having another right now due to everything else going on.
