DD latched on and ate without the nipple shield tonight for the first time! I'm sooo excited. At 5 1/2 weeks old, I was starting to give up that we'd ever get rid of the nipple shield. I find it annoying to use and she knocks it off constantly so I have been hoping to get her off it. I know it'll take time to wean her off it entirely but now I feel like there is hope!

This makes me think we should have a whole thread dedicated to our breastfeeding successes - no matter how big or small.
Agree. It's so much harder than I thought it would be (and I really do feel that I had realistic expectations going into it). It's nice to be able to talk about BFing with other people.

I agree with all said above! I am enjoying bfing, but it does take commitment and constant work! Whatever happened to AmyG? Did she permanently relocate to the bfing board?

No, I've seen her post a few times here and there.

Congrats! It took us about 6 weeks to wean from the shield with DD and about 4 with DS. It really helped in the beginning but I was glad to see them go

And I agree that it's harder than it looks. I feel like I had realistic expectations going into bf too.
