s/o staying up later... when is bedtime?

@Jackiemxoxo talked about starting to stay up later in the nap post below.  DD has had 6:30pm bath time and 7:00pm bedtime since we started her "routine" (she was literally less than a month old).  I'm not thinking of changing anything yet, because she still goes down easily.  I honestly think I could get her in bed at 6:30 if I wanted to, but some nights I work til 5:00 and it just isn't feasible (and I want to be consistent).

So, what time does you LO go to bed?  Has bedtime gotten later for you as they've gotten older?  Moms of 2+, when did your older kiddos start moving bed time backward?

Re: s/o staying up later... when is bedtime?

  • LO's bedtime was 630 for the longest time, it only just recently changed to 730 and now 8. He would go down perfectly at 630 but once he started fighting it we pushed it back a little each night to see what time was good for him. He still on occasion goes to bed at 630 if he's had a rough night/day.

  • I aim for 7. Sometimes she's ready by 6, other times she isn't ready until 8. I usually ask her or she grabs her bear and tells me "igh igh" then goes to the door that goes upstairs and says "go". If she isn't ready it isn't happening. I have to DS into bed, read with him, pack lunches... So I don't have time to argue with her.

  • We used to be hardcore consistent at 7pm. Then he started doing longer wake times, so naps changed and the afternoon one got later. And now some days, it's 2 naps, and some days it's one. So on one nap days, it's still 7pm… Two nap days is more like 8pm. Loooooooooove this 2 to 1 nap transition. Ugh.

  • Dd goes to be around 720/7745 the latest during the week. She fights it as soon as I say it's time to go night night she bugs out and runs to dh, but when I get her up here the entire process takes about 10-15 min and she's out. The weekend we try to stay on schedule but sometimes she isn't in bed til 9 if we are out etc.

  • We were 6:30 and are around 7:30 now. Once she started eating dinner and stopped getting a bottle before bed she wanted to stay up later.

  • My kids kind of fell into an 8:00 - 8:30 bedtime naturally. I tried with both to make it earlier and they weren't having it. Somedays when it's just myself putting them to bed and DH is out of town, it's even later, closer to say 9:00 by the time I get both ready, bathed, teeth brushed, and stories read. They typically sleep till about 8:00 the next day.

Some days I like the later bedtime and other times I don't. By the time I get home from work and make dinner, sit and eat, we get about an hour to play before having to get ready for bed.

  • Bedtime has recently settled down to a pretty consistent 7 for us. It works perfectly for us and I have my fingers crossed it stays this way for a while!
