Organized Activities over the Summer?

What organized activities, if any, will your kids be participating in over the Summer? We will probably do a 4 or 8 week course of swim lessons, but other than that just lots of outdoor time, parks, camping trips, swimming, etc. DH just commented that he wants DD1 to do something "educational" over the summer, but of course has no further idea of what that might be. ;-) (She will be 4 in May)
What about your kids?

Re: Organized Activities over the Summer?

  • Last year Lydia played soccer. This year she says she wants to try ballet. I'm hoping my babies can join in but they won't be 3 yet so I don't know if that will happen.

  • They will do soccer and swim lessons. They also will go to a day camp for a week (my break). Also, DS1 will go to zoo camp for three days. We have a week of bible school, too. Then we will spend our time at the pool. We also go to Kiawah Island, SC for a week each summer.
  • Swim lessons is the only certain summer activity at this point. DD may be old enough for other activities, but the summer activity newsletter hasn't arrived yet. The only activity that is an automatic no is soccer and that is because DD didn't do well in winter soccer.

  • We will do vbs for a week and possibly a dance class. Other than that she will attend Sunday school and have lots if trips to the zoo, children's museum and beach.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

Dx low progesterone October 2010, IUI success and then a total surprise!
  • DS1 will have therapy camp, modeling, and swim
    DS2 will have swim
They'll both do homeschool 4 mornings a week and other than that we plan family outings (we have memberships to the zoo, science center, pool, local amusement park, Crayola factory, museums, planetarium, etc) a few times a week to keep us busy.

I'd like DS3 to do swim lessons this year but I don't know if he'll be able to.
  • Well, mine are older, so we need more to fill our school-free days or they start going wiggy. We just started Karate, which will probably continue over the summer, they're doing a golf program, DS#1 wants tennis, we'll continue with swimming, and I have them signed up for two or three week-long day camps. It sounds like a lot, but it really isn't at their ages when we have every day free.
  • We'll do swim lessons and I'm sending him to summer day camp at his preschool for a few weeks. It's really just a preschool program, 3 days a week for 3 hours, but I'm going to be hugely pregnant and don't feel like running after a fairly active kid the whole summer.

Other than that, we do a lot of swimming, splash pads, zoo trips, camping, and hiking.

  • DS1 preschool has "summer camp" for a few weeks. We will probably have him do that if there is room.

does hanging out with @dizzykate count, cause based on her list I'm just going to follow her around.

    Yep. This.
  • We've been doing swim since last summer, so I think we'll take a break and pick it up again for the fall. We'll probably do gymnastics and our regular zoo, library, park stuff.

To my boys:  I will love you for you Not for what you have done or what you will become I will love you for you I will give you the love The love that you never knew
  • DD1 will still be doing ballet class and ice skating lessons.  She might do a soccer camp again to prep for fall soccer, but I am not sure if she wants to do soccer again, so we shall see.

I am enrolling both girls in swim lessons and we go to the zoo and children's museum.

DD will do one week of VBS.  As far as other activites are concerned, I am thinking parks, Costco, Library story time and free Summer movies at a local theater.

On the days DH has off, we will probably do the zoo, museums and nature centers

DS does swim year round but I will have him join swim team this summer along with lessons.  We will do VBS and I believe our park district has camps that run a week at a time.  I will have to look and see what they offer..

We will spend sometime at our lake house..take DS to lake michigan, zoo, museums ect.

  • We don't get out of school around here until end of june, July is a packed month. we are doing day came for a week, Riding camp. rented a beach house.  In the last 2 weeks H has been given an opportunity at work, that will require us to move. So we are looking into this, We would be moving to Washington DC or surrounding area.
  • DD is older, but she's doing a couple of weeks of theater camp in June, 5 weeks of sleepaway camp in July and then hopefully another theater camp in August if she gets in.
  • we will do swim lessons for the 3rd year in a row and add a dance class since she is 3 now.
