Bloating after Egg Retrieval?

Hi Ladies! I wish that someone would have told me how much the bloating STINKS after Egg Retrieval! =/ seriously yesterday was one day after and I looked 5 months pregnant and gained 5 pounds in water weight I was SO uncomfortable.  What did any of you experience and when did you feel normal again?! haha I guess it's a small price to pay

I'm sorry that you're so uncomfortable. Did your doctor talk to you about OHSS? Bloating and rapid weight gain are two common symptoms of that. I would definitely try to speak to the nurse if that happened to me. And in the mean time, I'd be chugging tons of gatorade. I hope it gets better soon!

Did you have a lot of eggs retrieved? Are you at risk for OHSS? I've only ever had minor bloating but I only produce a few eggs. I think if you gain more than 3 lbs in 24 hrs you're supposed to call your nurse, but someone else may correct me! I've heard lots of Gatorade and protein help, good luck!

Thanks Ladies! I did call my nurse last night because I was so worried with the weight gain and bloating that they were symptoms of OHSS she wanted me to come into the office first thing this morning for an evaluation but I told her I weighed myself this morning and I dropped a few pounds already and the bloating as gone down a considerable amount. I'm still pretty bloated and uncomfortable but nowhere near as bad as yesterday. She said some people just are more sensitive I guess... I'm hoping it's not OHSS I've been chugging watered down gatorade for days I had approx 25 follicles and 19 eggs retrieved, 13 of which ended up fertilizing SO now we just wait till monday to see how many make it to freeze for our FET cycle.

I didn't have any bloating until after the transfer.  The day after ET I looked and felt like you described.  It went away after another day or two.

My ER was on Monday (21 eggs retrieved) and I still don't feel great. Super bloated and just tired. I gained three pounds the first night, dropped a pound and I'm holding steady there. My ovaries are still achy and I'm just not myself. I don't think I necessarily have OHSS (not a severe case anyway) and my nurse agrees. I think it just takes awhile for all the fluid to drain and for our ovaries to settle down. I'm also constipated. Lovely.

This is not fun stuff, but eye on the prize, right?

@LizBlue  awe I know how you feel honestly... and I'm a musician so after I leave my 9-5 job tonight I will be singing with my band from 8:30p-12a then again tomorrow 7-10p Guess I should have been more careful about when I was booking gigs around this cycle =/ So just try to relax this weekend! Hope you are feeling better soon... I know I hope that I will soon AND yup Eye on the Prize

When will your Transfer be? Are you doing a FET as well?

Hey - transfer went well - thanks for asking!  We transferred one and froze three.  I had horrible digestive issues the night of transfer and still a little scared about that, but doctor assures me it's fine.  Beta is 3/25.  I will most likely test at home a day or two before that.  How are you feeling?  Better I hope!

That's exciting!! 3/25 will be here before you know it! Are you feeling better now?? I feel almost 100% again (thank god) I enjoyed a nice glass of vino last night haha Just seriously impatiently waiting for my phone call to find out how many embies made it to freeze..... seriously it's like torture, they should really call all the women doing IVF ASAP

@Musicianlala26  I finally feel 100% myself today for the first time!  I made myself have a glass of wine the night before transfer because I was hoping it would be my last chance for awhile  

Ack - I hope they call you soon. Making us wait for all of these results is totally a form of torture.  Sending good vibes for a good frostie report!  I'll be on the lookout for your update! FX
