S/O Linkedin - requests from strangers

Do you ever get requests from people you don't know? Do you accept or ignore? I get this a lot and I'm never sure what the etiquette is. It's people who aren't in my industry, company, etc. There is some chance that these are people considering hiring me (I'm an attorney in private practice). Would that make sense? I find it odd that they would send me a request when we have not yet spoken. Are they just trying to view my full profile?

  • I always ignore requests from people I don't know on linked in. Usually I think it's just people trying to sell me something like random real estate people or insurance agents.

  • I am careful about who to link with and only accept invitations from people I know in some way.
  • I ignore. Just like I don't answer my phone when I don't know the number.

  • I ignore requests from strangers. I'll accept ones from people I've never met if we have a legitimate connection, or I've corresponded with them before.

  • I have accepted a few people that I didn't know. I could see we are in the same industry and I think we had mutual connections.
