What are some good cloth diaper brands you recommend? Dos and Donts? Everything you need to know about cloth diapers. If there is a discussion about this already, please put the link down below! Trying to learn about cloth diapers before baby arrives. Thanks!
Re: NEWBIE!
Suddenly my life doesn't seem such a waste,
It all revolves around you.
While lurking here, use a good sense of humor as a filter. If people are blaming cloth diapers for a variety of problems, it's likely a joke.
Don't ever think your stash is complete. There are always more cute diapers to buy.
- Don't buy diapers off Zulily. They are almost always either a) crappy diapers that leak or b) rebranded Alva diapers sold at a 'discount'. Alva diapers are reasonably well-liked diapers, but can be bought directly from China for like $5-6 each...so $10+ on Zulily isn't a deal.
-Lots of diapers are marketed as One Size. They aren't. Most will not fit a newborn, even if said newborn weighs 8 lbs because his/her legs will be too skinny. Buy a newborn stash, especially if you're planning to have more than one child.
-What you think you will end up loving and what you actually end up loving (or what ends up working for your baby) will probably be two entirely different things.
There's a "New to cloth" info section also at greenmountaindiapers.com & I learned a ton there!
Don't - Invest in a giant stash of only one brand of diaper. As PP said, you think you'll love it & it may not even work for your family or fit your baby properly.
Do - Give prefolds & Thirsties duo covers a try. They make seem a tad intimidating at first but once you get the hang of it you may never want to buy another type of diaper. Prefolds & flats have long been my favorites.
Welcome & good luck!
