7 weeks 5 days but measuring 6 weeks?

Hi ladies. Yesterday I went for my first ultasound. By my calculations, I am 7 weeks and 5 days, but the baby is only measuring 6 weeks. My first day of my last period was January 17th. I have had a 30 day cycle for almost 2 years now since I went off BC. My last period was supposed to be January 3, but showed up 2 weeks late on the 17th.

The doctor sent me for blood work and I have to go again tomorrow to check my hormone levels to see if the baby is growing or if I've lost the baby. Has this ever happened to anyone? Could I have just ovulated late since my period decided to have a mind of its own and show up late?

I'm trying very hard to stay positive. Any information will be greatly appreciated!

I think it could very well be that you ovulated later than you thought you did.
Hopefully when you see your blood work results over the next few days youll get good results and your levels will increase!

Thank you ladies! I made the mistake last night to get online and Google it. Of course I didnt find any positive outcomes so it made me more nervous.

It sounds like you ovulated late.  Unless you know the specific day you ovulated (you won' unless you were charting your basal body temperature), you will have to go by ultrasounds for dating and to see if the pregnancy is viable.

Even the most regular ladies will have a wonky few cycles.

Well you kind of answered your own question by contradicting yourself.  You say you've had a 30 day cycle for two years (and this is why you believe you're 7 weeks) but then you go on to say that in fact, your last period came two weeks later than you were expecting.  Which means that cycle alone wasn't a 30 day cycle, do you know what I mean?  Your period comes based on when you ovulate.  When you ovulate later than the 14th day, the date your period will arrive also gets pushed back.

Plus your o date may be different from what you think. I mean the luteal phase can be shorter for some people or longer. It isn't a standard 14 days either.

Did you have any negative tests before the positive? You could have been only 4 weeks on February 28, then you could very well only be 6 weeks.

No, I didnt test prior to that. I still figured my cycle would be 30 days, counting from the 17th. Figuring that when I tested on the 28th, I would have been two weeks late, making me 6 weeks.

Cycles are regular until they aren't. I ovulated a week late last time, which "never happens" for me.

Unless you were charting, you don't how far along you are.

I know waiting sucks, but it's the only thing to do right now.
