I think it's ridiculous to not want your kids to be messy. (sorry HMP).  If the kid freaks out about being 'messy' that's one thing (though I still wouldn't avoid finger painting forever) but c'mon. They're toddlers. They're supposed to be messy.

But I'm lucky if my kid somewhat matches when we walk out the door.
Guess you missed my picture of James painting his entire arm when he was making his Valentine's day cards. Me not wanting them to get messy doesn't mean I don't let them. Leo doesn't like it right now, so win for me. I was actually looking for a picture to post yesterday of Leo ziploc painting and couldn't find one and I went back 3 months. All his paintings lately have been done with a brush, sponge, or something. He could finger paint if he wanted to. I just put the paint on a plate next to him.

I push the helmet early for anything with wheels - bike trailer, strider, trike, scooter, power wheels 4 wheeler. I always put it on him and hope for the best but if he fights it I will take it off (except the bike trailer when we are riding on roads, that is a must). I just want him to know it is a thing we wear because soon enough when he is wanting to go on the ramps, he will have to wear it.

  • The roads here are nasty.  I have to avoid an entire road that saves me 5 minutes on commute because of a recent incident with potholes.

I understand how bad they are, especially this year.  My opinion has to do with the fact that people feel entitled to repairs for their vehicles.  Just when our roads started to get repaired, we received another 6 inches completely wasting time and money.  Those same filled potholes were plowed up again.

I have a feeling I'm about to hit one of these bastards soon and I'll be back here with regrets.

  • Am I the only person that lathers sunscreen head to toe before getting them dressed in their swimsuit? I use the same amount of sunscreen if they're in a rash guard, a one piece, or a 2 piece. I do diaper, sunscreen, then shoes/hat/suit.

I do this too. SC sun is brutal. I'm 100% sure I'll do it this summer too up here. Nate has sensitive skin to begin with; I want to do all I can to avoid sunburns.

I could have written this myself. I put sunscreen on them head to toe in the summer. If we are outside for a longer period of time and they are in regular, non-swim clothes they are still sun-screened all over their bodies. Also, refer to my signature. My kid's porcelin complexions repel sun about as good as.... actually they don't, at all.

    Have you seen him dance?

Yes! And I'm still not a huge fan for some reason. I love a man that can dance. Justin Timberlake, Usher, yum!

I won't put Hannah in a bikini because that's more surface area that I need to cover with sunscreen, not because I feel it is sexualizing her.
DH thinks 2 pieces are sexualizing, I don't agree, so we have compromised and I picked shorter tank suits.
All 2 pieces, or just smaller bikini style? Make him do all the diaper changes in a one piece and then deal with the newly potty trained toddler in a one piece.
It was ALL two pieces. He just thinks its squicky to see babies in 2 pieces. I think it is adorable and love it for diaper changes.

I do that too. It's the reapplying that gets me. My little PNW kids burn super easy. That foreign object in the sky is serious business for us in the summer. It's just easier to have them covered more.

Same - to both. Head to toe before getting dressed, reapplying is the sucky part. I burn as soon as I think about the sun.

L got a swim shirt and bottoms for her main suit this year as a gift from my aunt, and it is ridiculously adorable.

My boys coordinate a lot unintentionally. 90% of their clothes come from the same store so they go together without me even thinking about. Like today, I didn't even realize how similar they were dressed until I was dropping them off at daycare. Both wearing red striped long sleeves with a tshirt over and jeans.

I never dress them exactly the same. When I find outfits I love, sometimes it is hard for me to decide which one to buy for because I don't like them having the same shirt at the same time. But pants don't bother me, just the tops.

$100 is still a total steal for Prime if you really use it.  I bet we've saved at least $1000 because of it. Between free streaming shows and movies, savings in general, and buying stuff from amazon.

We've had a crib, dresser, two punching bags delivered.  Those delivery fees probably would've been $100 each.
But isn't everything free shipping if you spend over $25 (if coming from Amazon)? Before I had Prime, I still had free shipping with most all of my purchases because of this. We don't use it for anything except shipping so I don't know if I am actually saving much. I live near a distribution center so I do get a lot of stuff in one day instead of the two. I haven't had a problem with not getting my items on time.

If you think Olive Garden is really good food and are legitimately excited to go there as a special occasion date, you do not actually know what good food is.

Taking fancy pictures of your meal there is silly.
Add in Red Lobster, Macaroni Grill, and every other 'high end' chain food.

I think Channing Tatum is all kinds of yummy but Magic Mike didn't thrill me in the least. I mean it was nice to look at his bod and all but that was it.

We don't have Dairy Queen anywhere nearby so it's Cold Stone or the healthy stuff.

  • I really didn't think Nancy needed a helmet to be on her Radio Flyer trike.

In most places the bike laws are for 2 wheels, not 3, so technically she doesn't need a helmet. That said, my kid is already showing signs of 'well, i didn't have to do it that way last time' that I don't want to fight with her when she is on 2 wheels. Plus she has a strider bike that does require a helmet, so I have her in one for consistency.

FWIW, it only took her 2 rides to stop fighting the helmet.

DS got a balance bike when he turned 2. He has still hardly ever ridden the thing bc he refuses to wear a helmet. No helmet, no ride in our house.

  • Cleveland potholes are bad!  Even if you can get a claim through the city they only reimburse about 75% of them and the amount is like $50 for hundreds of dollars worth of damage.

    image
Some of ours look like this.  It's ridiculous.  Our city is shitty about potholes, but 2 summers ago I got 2 flat tires from driving in an area where they were doing construction...ended up there were big monster nails in them. I reported it to the city right away and they paid the bill for my new tires.  That was pretty cool.

Those are the only fanceh restaurants we have around here.  Well there's Nemo's but that place is expensive!  So I'll enjoy my not actual good food and my date night tomorrow.

Same. It didn't personally bother me at all. I loved how everyone had a similar reaction with the nervous laugh. There were some awkward kisses, but meh. I appreciated it!

  • I found out last night that my 22 y/o nephew knocked up some 18 year old drug addict that he's been sleeping with and her FB announcement was "Dude and I are expecting a baby and if you don't like it, you can suck it."  It's the first time in my life I've ever thought "Man, I wish she would have had an abortion when she found out."  My nephew has had a rough life and is in the same cycle of drugs/drinking/poor choices that my brother was in.  It's just so sad that he's perpetuating the cycle of stupid.

She's due right around my due date and is still using, although is "only" doing pills because doing "the hard stuff" isn't good while pregnant.  It makes me sick.
OMG, that poor baby. This is when I wish there were mandatory child prep classes to scare some sense into them.

I like a happy medium. DH looks like a true mountain man when he grows a full out beard and looks ridic clean shaven. He looks really good with a goatee and a little scruff. Luckily, he keeps a beard for a little over a month (Move-ember).

  • I don't think a beard could help Ryan Gosling. Paper bag maybe.
  • DH has a baby face but he looks hilarious with any type of facial hair. His head is a dirty blonde but the irish comes out in him if he grows his face. It's like Darrin McCarty red/brown<-for those of you are Red Wings fans and it's spotty. He's 36 years old and can't grow a full beard. It's kind of funny.
