Tracheomalacia

So after a hospital visit, multiple pedi visits, x-rays, bronchiolitis, and breathing treatments, our pedi thinks LO might have tracheomalacia. We have an appointment with a specialist, but it's not for another 4 weeks. I've been consulting Dr. Google, but was wondering if anyone here has any experience with this?

Re: Tracheomalacia

  • No experience, and I'm not even sure what tracheomalacia is, but it sounds like your LO has been through a lot! :( FX that they get better soon!

  • My SIL has this, and was diagnosed as an adult, not a child.  Hers doesn't really seem to affect her much though.  The ped also thinks it's possible that DS has it, since he wheezes and makes funny noises alot when he is sleeping or drinking milk.  But since at the moment it is only funny noises, we haven't done much follow-up.  Good luck with your test!

  • Thanks for the T&Ps ladies!

Our Pedi seems to think he will grow out of it, but said the specialist will determine the severity of it. E sounds horrible and everyone worries that he has trouble breathing as he has retractions all the time, but his oxygen is at 98%. Were hoping it's something that will be quick and easy to come out of!
