Completed 1st Flight

edited March 2014 in May 2013 Moms
Hello Ladies

I just wanted to quickly say Thank You to everyone that provided advice etc for our first flight. We just returned from PR and had a great time.
On the way there she did ok (not great and not bad lol)...on the returning flight she did beautifully. Again thank you!

ETA - I should add that on the returning flight we hit the seat jackpot as one of the seats in our row was empty. Made a huge difference.

Glad it went well for everyone and that's awesome you lucked out with seats coming home!

Yes, that was a great bonus :-)

  • Oh DD also made a friend on the flight lol. On the way there we a little girl that had just turned 1 behind us. Then, in a lucky coincidence we actually ended up on the same flight back...with us directly behind them lol.

Anyway, the girls would make each other smile etc throughout the flight...it was really cute.

  • @coffeeandbooks‌ this time we stayed with family as we went so that my Dad could meet his Granddaughter :-). I have plenty of advise about where to go etc on the island as I've been going since I was a baby. Feel free to send me a pm with any questions you have etc. Happy to point you in the right direction...I love it when people have a great time there...it makes me feel proud of the little island I'm from lol. It's small but rich in beauty.

  • @allydncr‌ a lot of great feedback was given to me on a post I a while back when I asked for advise. Hopefully you can find it. I can tell you what worked for us though:

Getting the gate check bags to protect the stroller. We also stuffed our coats in there since we were going to a warm climate. Less stuff to carry on plane that way. I bought mine on Amazon but they sell them at BBRUS too and I think some Buy Buy Baby carry them too.

I tried giving her a bottle on the way up and down but she wouldn't take it as she was too busy looking at everyone and everything. So I gave her her paci instead and luckily had no issues with her ears. Anything to keep the jaw going will work, like a snack if they won't latch, take bottle or take a paci.

I used our back pack diaper bag for the trip instead of the shoulder one because it made it easier to carry with everything else.

Lots of little toys to keep her busy. I packed 2 of her smaller favs and then some disposable stuff like a diaper (she loves playing with it lol), a small plastic cup or empty water bottle.

Pack a blanket for a nap. Also a light jacket in case everyone around you has their air on.

Paci wipes, hand wipes and/or toy wipes. Paci clip if they use one a paci, that way you don't have to worry about it going on the floor

I made sure my diaper bag had her food and a few snack options, and extra formula in case my bag was delayed (which it was...didn't get it till the next morning).

I'm sure I'm missing stuff, I'll let you know if I think of more.
