Prefolds: Nicki's vs GMD

Did I imagine it, or did someone post that Nicki's prefolds in size XS shrink a lot more than GMD is NB size? I only have the GMDs in small and Nicki's in XS, so I can't compare IRL.

Also, would it be silly of me to even have the NB and XS diapers? My ob is predicting another 8 pounder, so I would hate for them to not fit at all. On the other hand, if they'll even fit for a few weeks, I will go ahead and get them to avoid the extra bulk of slightly too-big diapers. Somebody, hold my hand and tell me what to do!

I had an 8 pounder and the GMD NB size fit for about 4 or 5 weeks. They were well worth it, in my opinion.

GMD NBs will probably be a little bigger than Nicki's XS...but the real difference is in the absorbency. GMD NBs are a full 4X8X4 layers of fabric, whereas the Nicki's XS are 3X6X3 layers, which is why they are actually more like GMD preemie.

I would just use what you have since if you're expecting a larger newborn s/he will be fitting into the GMD smalls very quickly.

Aha! I didn't know about the difference in the thickness! That makes sense, though.
