WWYD: Switching Providers (really long but I need some advice)

Re: WWYD: Switching Providers (really long but I need some advice)

  • Assuming you don't have some complicated medical history then I probably would jump ship too. I changed before this pregnancy. They kicked out my favorite OB since he didn't make them enough money and my second favorite left (to the practice I now am at). I think feeling comfortable is a huge deal. The two doctors I didn't like made some really insensitive comments and were so incredibly brisk that I couldn't feel comfortable asking questions which is a huge deal. Good luck!

  • I would switch. I switched at 35 weeks when I was pregnant with my daughter. If you're not satisfied with your care and are questioning your OB theres nothing wrong with looking elsewhere for care. It's your body and your baby; trust your gut and do what you think will be right for you.

PS @jshrop I'm also in the Savannah area

Follow your heart and do what makes you feel the best.  You know what is best for you and your baby.

I am in the exact opposite position right now; I LOVE LOVE LOVE my provider and since I've basically been pregnant for most of the past 2+ years, they have come to know me quite well and vice versa.  I am completely calm and happy there. Only problem is, since my last delivery, I have moved and now live much closer to a different hospital.  5 minutes away.  Whereas the hospital affiliated with my current practice is over an hour away.  DH wants me to deliver at the hospital close to home, which I cannot really argue with.  Our son will be 15 months when the new baby is born and being close to home would make things so much easier.  But I am hesitant to leave such a wonderful practice and my amazing midwife.    I made an appointment with a highly-recommended doctor at the new practice and I am just hoping I love her so this transition won't be so hard.

Good luck with everything!  I am sure everything will be great for you.
